The Sunday Picture Show (March 20, 2022)

I’ve seen so many beautiful customs either with modified blades or handles, but still inherently Buck. I vote either black or green handle Roger.

Thank you Roger for SPS efforts. Interesting that the 1st 110 Tanto blade that I have ever seen is also Damascus. I took apart this Carbon fiber 112 Ranger and discovered some interesting construction details. The knife is held together by 4 screw sets. The rear 2 sets have T-nuts that are immobilized by the D holes in the spring holder. The screws are shorter than those on the Legacy and Club knives because the knife is skinnier.
The T-nuts used on the rocker pivot and the blade pivot are immobilized by crenellations which bite into the Carbon fiber. The rocker has no bushing and pivots directly on the 1/8” diameter screw set. The blade has a Bronze bushing which appears to be used as a spacer. The bushing does not turn in the blade, so the blade pivots on the screw set in the hole in the bushing.
The knife works smoothly and locks up tight. If this set up causes premature wear, the parts involved are cheap and replaceable. The S-30-V blade is welcome. The Carbon fiber keeps the weight to 71gm. All in all a nice little package.View attachment 1771264View attachment 1771263View attachment 1771265View attachment 1771266

I honestly don't know if it's factory, more research to do, the sheath is well made but does not have any Buck stamping on the leather or snaps. Everything fits well and fits into the box. If anyone has any info let me know. The axe handle has a full micarta wrap.
You have a very rare axe with the full wrap micarta handle that encloses the handle frame. When Buck switched to micarta about 1971 they did the full wrap only for the first month or two.. I think yours is only the 3rd I can recall. I'll add some pictures of mine to clearly show the difference.

Interesting question... is it the blade or handle than makes it a Buck knife. I say it can be either...

My 110 I re-bladed with an aftermarket Damascus blade made by a bladesmith in Idaho:

My 124 that I re-handled with the Buckeye Burl:

And then there is this 119 from the custom shop where both the blade and handle are non standard:

But all of them are easily identifiable as a Buck Knife. Maybe the guards/pommel, bolster styles have as much to do with it, in making it a Buck Knife??

As for the poll.... with a Tanto blade which screams "tactical"... I'm partial to the O.D. with the Black being the next runner up.

Hi All Happy SPS,

Thank you to all who have posted photos and conversation to these weekly events. Roger, thank you for hosting the shows (how do you like your 110 Sport?).

I love Paul's custom channel inlay 110 and remember when those customs first showed up (I know Armand has at least one). When these gold etch 110's fist showed up I liked the Scrimed lid's better than the gold etch on the knives. Here is what the issed knife set looks like.

Can't help myself. I found an event loosely relating to a Buck knife.
This day in History... March 20, 1972 . Exactly 50 years ago today 9 mountain climbers were killed on Japan's Mount Fuji during an avalanche.
Buck 110 with Mt Fuji gold etch. c. 1988. Beautiful stag handles. Mt Fuji is the highest peak in Japan at 12,388'. It is located 60 miles SW of Tokyo and last erupted in 1707. My feeling is that the etch is by Taylor and the serial number location is typical as I have seen some Taylor etches serial numbered on the bolster.

That sure is one Armand, I thought you had another that had a river flowing in it that looked like opal stone full of fire! Thanks for sharing Brother.
Have you seen this one?:

No I haven't... Is that your daughters... Dose she still collect wolfs...

Arre we having fun yet? There is still time for more pictures of Buck knives.

I really like those inlay knives C Chilebrown jb4570 jb4570 ItsTooEarly ItsTooEarly . Who does those?

Funny thing you should ask (who does those?) because the fellow I got it from would not tell me as he said he was trying to get more and did not want to miss out on $$$$ by reselling them to us collectors. I told him I only wanted to know who made it for my records, he said after his deal was done he would tell me (He lied).
