On this Day, May 10th, 1908. The first Mothers Day Celebration. Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, WV
Anna Marie Jarvis (1864-1948) was the founder of Mothers Day. In 1876, when she was 12 years old, Anna Jarvis witnessed her mother offer a prayer at the close of a Sunday school class: “I hope and pray that someone, sometime, will found a memorial mothers day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life,” Anna never forgot her mothers prayer. On May 10, 1908, 3 years after her mothers passing she organized a memorial service for her mother in their hometown Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Living in Philadelphia at the time and unable to attend she sent 500 white Carnations, her mothers favorite flower, to be given out. On the same day in Philadelphia she hosted a similar event in conjunction with Wanamaker's Department Store. That leads to some confusion in articles about Mothers Day, some saying it was first celebrated in Philadelphia and others in Grafton, WV. I guess both are true but the International Mothers Day Shrine is the historic church building in Grafton. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Mothers Day a National Holiday in 1914. Anna Jarvis never married or had children of her own as she considered the recognition of Mothers her life's work. Jarvis spent much of her later life condemning the commercialization of the holiday.

Mammoth Tooth 110 by Brian Yellowhorse. This limited edition of 100 is a 2021 Copper & Clad exclusive. I really like it, really pleased with the color and pattern. The fit and finish is perfect and the scales were nicely book matched The COA was a bit disappointing, generic and mentions Ironwood, not Mammoth tooth.

Bucky and his woolly friend Giganto check out the knife from Copper & Clad.
Giganto says looking at the new knife makes him sad but he does not know why.
