The Sunday Picture Show (May 28th, 2023)

Nothing real special here. Just an old Version 3 and I would have to look up the variation.
Its a near minty two liner read tip down with integral rear bolster. But in the Blade Guide to knives article by Joe Houser and Larry Oden on page 506 the very last sentence they say that one rare variation has no scale pins.
I lucked into this one on the bay a long time ago...
I believe one of you has one as well. Only a couple that I know of. Am sure there are others. Sorry I didn't polish it up.V3-1.JPGV3-2.JPG

Yours is really interesting. Would be an amazing story how that happened. Sheath is interesting as well Mine didnt come with one. I love the clean look of no scale pins

I would guess the Buck craftsman who put it together thought it would be an interesting combination. When I found it a couple years ago I thought it would be better if the scales matched, now I appreciate the uniqueness.

The sheath (first version Atchison Leather) is correct, and probably the original to the knife. The sheaths are not too difficult to find on the bay, but sell for surprising amounts.

Hi All & Happy Holiday SPS weekend!

Worked through the weekend, but today is my scheduled day off :) . Thank you Roger for hosting and all who post to these weekly events. Though late to the party at least I got here this week, You all have put up some fantastic knives and I do enjoy seeing them all.

Here is a set of photos of some of the old 110s lots of different angles, like Preston I have a soft spot for them. Have never sent them to the SPA (maybe some day).

A very interesting knife indeed! it is a 1968 - 1970 Inlay - there are no inlay rivets, just a rocker pin a Variation 3 version 4. I had one with Bloodwood for scales and one rocker pin. It was beautiful.

jb4570 jb4570 knice grouping of knives , John.

There is something about their blade shape and grind, knail knotch and slim handle that speaks to me. Don't have as many as I would like and now they are few and far between...the ones in a condition like yours, anyway.

Here is my latest invert, a V4V1 & sheath that I was fortunate to pluck from the bay for less than thirty bucks. Seller described a weak rocker spring that would not hold the blade closed as well as a good bit of blade play. I noticed the spring had worked partly out of holder/spacer. A few tap tap tappy taps with a punch and it is perfect with rock solid lock up. As me grand pappy once said "sometimes it's better to be lucky than good"

mattewtstock - a very nice Version 4 Variation 1, built in between 1970 - 1972, on the data sheet it says 2 variations. I do not know what they are. The only difference I see is version 1 variation 1 has a brass rocker pin and version 4 variation 2 it says a stainless steel rocker. It is a beauty!!
