Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

On this Day, October 29, 1814. Our Navy's first steam powered warship Demologos is launched.
In 1812 the then 18 year old US Navy was miniscule with only 22 warships compared to to the worlds largest British navy with over 600. Designed by Robert Fulton, it was launched on this date in 1814. Completion was not until 1815 and delivered to the Navy in 1816, too late for the war for which she was intended. After Fulton's death, the Demologos was renamed the USS Fulton. It was basically a floating battery for protection of New York harbor. A strange design, the 153' long USS Fulton was a catamaran with the paddle wheel between the two hulls, and a single deck over. The steam engine was located in one hull and the boiler on the other side. Gunnery was twelve 32-pounder cannons on each side and three more at the bow and stern, for a total of 30 plus two 100-pounder. The wooden hull was 5' thick as armament!!! She saw only one day of active service, when she carried President James Madison on a tour of New York Harbor. Eventually stripped she served as a floating barracks for the Brooklyn Navy yard. She came an inglorious end by a gunpowder explosion in 1829 killing 48 men.(another reference said 24 men)

This week in recognition of the current lunar eclipse visible in some parts of the country tonight I have the 2015 Legacy Vanguard "Golden Wolf". Having a knife depicting a wolf howling at the moon seemed fitting. A limited edition of 250 with a Burlwood handle. Burl species was not given in the catalog. The COA is incorrect listing the handle as Dymondwood. I really miss the days of the fancy Legacy knives and SFO's (special factory orders). Everything today seems plain vanilla by comparison, even many of the BOTM's. I know blade cutouts are not for everyone but as I've said before I view my knife collection as "Art Collection in Metal" so fancy cutouts work for me. Enjoy the show. /Roger

I like blade cutouts simply because I don't give hard use to every knife I own so why not? There is not many 112 versions so when I find one it's a good day. Some ARE fragile and best reserved for fruit lolol!20230407_173633.jpg
