I have some moderate hoarding tendencies when it comes to knives. I've only ever moved a blade if a really special deal presented itself.
Based on the behavior of some of my favorite forum members I've toyed with the idea of starting a knife leasing operation![]()
BUT.......this one MIGHT go bye-bye if I get my hands on a new spec 4.1 in 3V and like it better.
And then again maybe not.![]()
Hey, Casino...Talk about "fickle"? That's me, too. My tastes run from A to Z and I try to sample most things in-between...whether fixed or folder.
I'm a hoarder, but they still come and go pretty quickly. A hoarding instinct that changes with the wind.
I will say, however, that Survive has always been one of my favorites. I became enamored early on, when Guy made that video (in Pa) where he used the 5 lb sledge on the spine of his 3V fixed blade to hammer it through thick tree limbs...with no damage to the blade. And, of course, the one where he trusts his life to his 3V when he lowers himself off of a cliff...with his body weight entrusted to the lateral strength of his blade.
I've owned quite a few Survive knives; sold a few; gifted some to family, and I only have three left. But I value those three, and they represent where my tastes reside...at the present.
Ain't it the truth brother, ain't it the truth. That's what makes it fun...the uncertainty of what lies just beyond the corner...
Ain't it the truth brother, ain't it the truth.
Just when you think you've found the Holy Grail of knives and the search is over.....it never ends.
What did you say about it Jonny?
I don't check out the exchange all that often, especially compared to those more active with buying and selling, but I haven't picked up on any wildly varying trends. It seems like I can usually find a GSO or two on the first few pages of the exchange. At the moment there are more. Some folks ready to sell and plenty who are willing to buy.Hey Team Survive! I think everybody here knows that I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to Survive knives, but why all of a sudden are we seeing what I think are a lot of them for sale in the exchange?
It seems to me back in the summer, members were on the lookout for other members. Now there's a plethora? I don't get it? Or is there nothing to get?
Sometimes where I work my co-worker says, Uncle Tim, you're over-thinking it. Is that the case here? Just curious.
Kinda seems like it goes in waves. When CPK or Busse have something available there's more movement on the exchange to generate funds for those sales, or the aftermath of those salesNate just sold some of the big behemoth choppers, and Jerry is in the second half of Operation Two Weeks, so there's been a knife a week (at least) offered by Busse.
