The sweet satisfaction of a new knife

So I received my Strider SMF today, and was just so overwhelmingly pleased by finally having it in pocket. I'd been waiting for around a week to get it and after checking my tracking number roughly a trillion times, here it is! Just made me realize how intensely I've lusted after knives in the past, even if I'd already owned one before! Anyone else had that recently, where they were freaking the heck out about a blade they'd ordered that was en route? What do you laddies and lassies have incoming?

Glad that you also have the virus. I have a spyderco Slysz Bowie incoming. It's the same feeling, whether it's your first or you've already had several hundred before. Be happy; life is short.

MAN the Slysz looks cool, I hope it serves you well! I'm really glad I saved enough to get my SMF, I had a CC SNG two years ago but really didn't appreciate it and sold it after only 2 months. Now a few years and a lot of knives later I want the the SMF for exactly what it was built for, a darn tough knife built like a brick s$!thouse

My first CRK, a large 21 and it was "born" on the same day as my daughter. That is anticipation building.

I don't think that sweet satisfaction will ever end no matter the knife. I have a Cruwear Military on the way, and although it'll be my 3rd Military and I know what to expect, it'll be my first sprint steel and something other than camo. Those big satin Spyderco blades with their pleasurable sticky sharp factory edges along with the sound of the Military lockup are very satisfying to me. The work day is like Christmas eve till you get home to that mailbox and find your new toy in there.

The knife coming in the mail is the sweetest expectation of satisfaction. And I tend to disregard those tried and true users I carry everyday. They eventually get their revenge sometimes (often) because the newcomers not always stand up to the task. I have two coming (a Buck and a Bark River) and I'm excited beyond reason !!!

Man, your going to love the Slysz Bowie. The u tube videos and online reviews do not even come close to doing this knife justice. Gongrats and enjoy!

It's an Awesome Feeling when you have a new knife coming. The waiting is hard to describe!

Getting a new knife is always a great feeling, even if you had the same or similar one. It's the anticipation while it's making its way to you that is nerve-wracking. I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on my first Bark River fixed blade. I know the wait would kill me.

Nothing coming in due to finances. Didnt win the lottery this month.

But yeah, the closest thing to what it was like being a kid at Christmas is waiting for a new knife.

I got my Bowie in yesterday. It's SWEET!

I was talking about the "new knife smell" with my brother-in-law the other day... about half or more of my knives are used while he refuses to buy 2nd hand blades.

I don't mind getting something someone else used but I have to agree that pulling a blade out of it's factory box/sheath and checking it out for the first time, smelling the factory coating, looking at the grind, etc. is pretty nice.

I need a new-new knife. It's been what... a couple months? I'm getting itchy.

Gotta love that. The hunt, the purchase, the wait. Finally receiving said purchase.. all around a fun time. It's always nice to have something on the way! Nice score on the SMF, I used to own a DGG but traded it.

This week I was/am that way about three different knives: I found a Buck 307 like I've wanted for a month or two and it arrived yesterday and is living up to my expectations and then some. I just sent my Leatherman Super Tool off to be replaced so I'm really excited about getting an ST300 back, and my girlfriend gave me a Buck Vantage Avid for my birthday and it is currently on the way, should be here tomorrow. Usually I go months without any exciting knife purchases, but this week I have more than one reason to be excited! Its even worse for people like me who split their hard-earned savings between guns and knives :(

That "sweet satisfaction" can lead to low funds and divorce.
:D
Gratzee, on a great folder!

Hope you get what you order. I did my homework, saved the money and made the purchase - LITTLE CREEK. Tracked the delivery and met the Postman when he arrived. To my disappointment the knife was not the same one as depicted in the photograph. Contacted the distributor and got an apology and a $10.00 in store credit. Needless to say that instead of it becoming my pride and joy it is now an ordinary "Plain Jane" which I do not even want to brag with. My suggestions to rectify the matter has not been entertained.
