The Tamangs, best all around HI Blade...

Great pix, thank you for sharing

Have to admit, the Tamang looks like a great all-purpose knife. I also think the "True Villager" finish is best on this knife.

I just want to thank everyone for sharking them before I blew more money that I don't have to spend.

:D

Well dear, I think we will be seeing Tamangs for some time now.
You will certainly get a chance to shark one for your very own one day.
It is merely a matter of time I would think before it happens.

Honestly Cpl, I think you'd like one from what I've read about you use pattern.

Sadly, I think you're right.

I keep trying to whittle myself down to just a few good users, and then I see another that would work good and I buy it before I know what I'm doing.

I once thought about not collecting and getting rid of most of mine but then... Well, let's just say some of them have memories and other aren't worth the trouble to sell compared to what I seed in them. So here I sit on something like 70 pieces of Himalayan Imports goods, just waiting for my heirs to go, "What was he thinking?" as the shake their heads in amazement.

To HISknife: I wanted to also suggest another blade to pair with the tamang to sort of complete a Bushcraft set.
The other knife in this shot is the R-10 and it is perfect for when the big blade is too much...

that is excellent. Thank you for the info.

Thank Warty, this thread got me to get the Tamang of DOTD 21/7 :)

Really nice pics and write up, dharwood for now :)

Wonder if ever a chiruwa styled handle has ever been incorporated for the Tamangs

The Tamang is a pretty new model based and the handle is probably still based on the original. But give it a month or two and they'll probably get to a chiruwa. The turn around on the Villager Farm Knife (VFK?), from concept and drawing to manufacture, was surprisingly short in my opinion. BirGorkha is rockin'.

Thanks Warty, got the Dharwood Tamang in my hands now and let me say, it is a delight!

This is the first non-chiruwa khuk I bought and I'm happy to report that it actually feels quite nice in the hands. Coupled with the fact that HI does a very beefy stick tang I'm in now way going to baby this blade.

Really nice weight, balance and feel. So far so good with HI purchases, has not let me down yet :)
