The text every "knife guy" would love to receive

My GF is getting there, she's got 3 of her own blades now and wants more! Yesterday I had just finished looking at the 2013 Spyderco catalog and went and got on the computer (browsing BF as usual) and I hear a loud "OH!" from the living room, the conversation went something like this:
Me: "What are you oh'ing?"
Her: "I'm looking at the new Spyderco catalog."
Me: ".... really?? See something you like?"
Her: "Yeah, a few.... I think I want a Delica, Endura, and a Manix 2. Maybe a couple others too."
Me: ":D *sinister voice* mission accomplished"

Buy her a custom. Take the time to show her a bunch of custom makers, find one that she likes. Have her go through the process of contacting the maker, discuss what model she wants, what colors/type of handle material and steel, etc. Takes a bit longer, and is more expensive, but it's much more "hers" when it's done. :)

Oh man your getting ahead of yourself! I still haven't gone through that process lol..... But one day hehe. Maybe we could design one together and get matching :)

Today at exactly 2:48 PM I received this text.

I think I've got her hooked! I bought her a ZT 0350 for Christmas to accompany her Kershaw Leek and I think it did the trick, she loves KAI knives but maybe it's time to introduce her to other brands!

What about your wife/girlfriend? What brands/model of knives do they like? If any at all :P

Mine isn't a fan however!!!! She did pick me up a Black g-10 manix for Christmas and a Streamlight micro..... (She had help) but she could have chosen to ignore the cry of the man in her life ;)

I really wanted to get her something but she's really turned off by the idea and she's a smart gal..... if she feels a need, she knows all she has to do is ask and it's game on....... ;)

Good call on the 0350, thats a great sized knife for anyone and packs LOADS of awesomeness..

Got my girlfriend to carry a Vic Classic in her purse, but that's about it. Whenever we make trips, she always claims my Opinel though.

Yeah my girlfriend had some help for my birthday. Got a pelican case with pluck n' pull foam. I got my 20+ folders in it. It can easily hold over 80 lol.

Do you carry the Microtech around Fresno?

Very rarely. I carry it IWB when I go to the gym. Waved knives and fixed blades make much more sense. Back when I used to sell dope, I always carried a Microtech OTF because a dealer has to have the flashy stuff. If I got busted, I'd just buy another.

I've been trying to convince her into a Vic. Nothing she really wants yet.

Keep nagging and handing the Vic to her when you think she needs it.
"Oh, you need scissors, here take the SAK on my keys"
"Oh, you need a file? Here..."

Repeat until she starts getting it :D

I got my fiancee (man I love saying that) an engraved safety orange Izula for Valentine's Day and she loved it. She calls it the "Cheddar" knife--her nick name. Uses it for just about everything. Pretty sure she uses hers way more than I do. She's the type of girl that really uses her knives... I felt kind of proud one day she told me she had shot and skinned a squirrel using the rifle I bought her, and this knife. ON the downside of that equation she's gone through two rings since the time I bought it for her... lol

She's also got a Buck 110 and a fixed blade Colt that I gave her 'cause she liked it and I never did anything with it--edge is like butter, one of those.

Personally my favorite moment was when she asked me to teach her how to sharpen. I swear I've got the best girlfriend

Your wife looks like she could be my wife's sister.

My wife has no problem with knives and guns - she likes to shoot - but just has more of an interest in purses and necklaces and other trinkets. I just don't get it :)

My wife's cousin was stabbed to death last year when he tried to break up a fight between a scumbag and scumbag's girlfriend, so she is really anti-knife right now. I just appreciate that she is still ok with me collecting and carrying, but she doesn't want to be anywhere near one now. Before that I was starting to turn her. Was gonna get her a pink Squeak to get her started.

Yikes! It's always terrible when some idiot has to stab someone and make us collectors look bad.... Ill carry 4 knives on a normal day and people always assume I'm out to stab someone, meanwhile I work as an EMT lol.
