The thrill of AO has worn off for me

I dunno about compression locks, but to flick an axis closed you just have to pull the lever back and giver 'er a flip. That's how it was with my 710 anyway.

I may get the ET after all. Still the Offset- while a nice knife, and I really like the stud-lock- is a lot to have sitting at home. I buy customs, but I carry them as well and expect them to do everything I ask of them. I DO have knives that get put out of my EDC for a while, but not that often.

Personally I have come to think that an AXIS or compression locks are even more fun to play with though, because you can flip the blades both open and closed.

Agreed. The Axis is very easy to flip open and closed. I carry a BM 530 from time-to-time. The dagger style blade is very disturbing to sheeple, as such, I only use it for cuts when nobody else is around and I need a quick cut. I can flip the knife open, make the cut, and flip the knife closed in very short order. Nobody is the wiser.

I still want a new Leek though. Can't decide between a Random Leek, a G10/S30V one, or waiting for the Ti/ZDP189 one.

A Ti/ZDP-189 Leek? :D I must have missed that announcement. Do you have any more details or pics? Sorry for the hijack, but that just sounds nice.

I think that Ti/ZDP Leek is going to be a real winner. Thomas, I know you were worried about the price having to be high, but I don't think that when you take the materials into account that $200.00 is out of line at all.

Well the 1000 pieces have been sold to the distributors/dealers(quite quickly I may add). Now we just need to make them.
You will all find them at all your regular knife outlets. Hopefully mid June.

Thomas, I asked this before and don't recall an answer if I missed it I am sorry, can I assume that this will be a framelock?

When I got home Friday, I took out the Optimiser bar in my Apparition, tightened the blade up a hair, and it got really tight, to the point that it was hard to open. I loosened it up, and it just falls out of the handle, which bothers me to no end. I really like the knife, but it was designed for AO, and the thinner liners just don't work with regular liner lock in my opinion. Still a helluva cutter though.

I did give my SOG Flash II to my friend on Friday. He thought the AO was the coolest thing ever.

I've only had one AO and the spring broke within about a month. That was enough for me. I kept the broken spring to remind me why I don't like them now, as there are a few that still tempt me;) ...

when i wanted a dominator i was lucky enough to get a non assisted ag russell one :)

i have nothing against ao pieces, just dont want the hassle from ignorant people about it

I think part of the appeal of AO's are the toy/gadget/cool something to do while board aspext

I think the human mind is a rather open-ended device in itself, lends itself well to destroying feelings of boredom fi you simply open it up to the capabilities it was designed with. :)

If/when speedy opening is a concern for me, I just tote a Spyderco. Never had much interest in the AO gadget phenomenon.
