I've been reading on here for a few months now and have slowly been collecting tools that I need. My biggest hurdle is space. I have no proper work space currently so I am building a 4x6 plastic booth in my attic for knife shaping, grinding, drilling, gluing, etc.. I am doing stock removal and will build a forge and do all heat treating outside in the yard. My booth consists of:

72 inch fold up work table from home depot.
1x30 harbor freight belt grinder
Ryobi drill press
Tiny vise
Nicholoson hand files
Sand paper
Metal hacksaw
Clamps
And various other tools

I know there is more I need still but I'm ready to get started and should have a bar of 1084 by Saturday.

Anyone else have a super tiny work space?
Tips or tricks?

If building a very small booth in an attic, be sure that sparks won't start a fire and that you have sufficient ventilation. Cleaning up all dust after each session would be a must.

A fire extinguisher should be on your list, as well as a good respirator.

Good call Stacy. Thanks

I live on top of a duplex so lugging tools up and down stairs isn't really appealing to me. We are gonna move to a house with a garage this fall though.

This is where I started out, only 3' wide.
I had my vice diagonal, so I could make the best of the space I had.
That way I could saw with my elbow just not hit the wall.

BTW there is an Italian maker that makes beautiful work also in a very small workshop

Right now I do everything outside on my back patio area on top a simple table. Caint wait to move into a new place with a nice shop. It's in the works... My garage is full of tools, dirtbikes and workout equipment so no room for knife making...
