The Tom Brown Tracker is...okay.

Every one I've ever seen isn't very sharp. My good friend kept asking about their knives then finally bought one. His was dull, and he told me that was also a common finding in his research. Idk, Tops has never really impressed me. I think the Ka-Bar Becker line is much better and certainly cheaper. Never had a problem with BK knives. Only thing I dont like about them is the stupid plastic handles. But you can either wrap the handle or stipple the plastic and then they're great.

From the TOPS knives I have bought/received, half were sharp.
Half were dull.

Which jives with what you tend to read about them.
So, just be ready to sharpen if you buy a TOPS knife. :)

As for Beckers, they seem fine, but I prefer the Junglas to the BK9.
Micarta handle scales and a great Kydex sheath...plus the handle just works for my hand.

I picked up my Tracker used, but lightly so. It had the original, unaltered/non-resharpened edge which was shaving sharp. It maintained that edge after a decent amount of use. Mine seems to have a superb HT, as does my buddy's. Mine appears to be an old one, based on the logo lay out, and my buddy's is only two years or so old. Both are very well made.

So one of those last photos, looks like the handle is BLACK...usually they were grey...are
they making them with BLACK handles now?

The handle scales are a greyish colour...but they darken from skin oils (and dirt sometimes) from use.
If you clean them with hot soapy water, they have that greyish colour again. :)

I just heard from someone else, these black handled ones were NSW, Navy Special Warfare (Navy seals) issued to them for the hard to see black.

Reckon that's true? or they just painted it black and trying to pass it off as a Navy Seal knife?

I have played with one once, it was a custom job. Good knife but not really my thing.
for a " one tool option" I like my BK4.
Still many love the tracker.
