The traditional knife you feel was your best deal...

Oh ya... How could I forget about the A Wright Lambsfoot?
A real value for a hard working knife!!!

My best purchases would have to be my GEC 15 one arm and Beer Scout because I purchased them new from a retailer.

My best deal would be a new run chestnut 89 that was traded for an older 15 that was traded for a northwoods signal jack which in turn was traded for my Northwoods Fremont.

I think really good bargains are a thing of the past with the likes of GEC.

Got this lightly used 55 a few years back from the Exchange at very reasonable cost, in those days it wasn't uncommon either, plus the Euro was stronger against the Dollar, shipping was much cheaper, no 25% VAT import tax which is also applied to postage costs as well. Nostalgia, it has its value :D

The best I've ever done was back about 5 years ago. Picked up this box for so little I'm ashamed to say.

It also came with all this stuff...

This is what was in the two leather slips:

That was probably the best I'll ever do, and yet I keep looking. There are still some good knives waiting to be found.

I got this one off of the Net for $28 plus freight . Matched Stag , Integral Bolsters , and Squared Bolsters .

Both of these were good deals , but the little SEO&S was only $10 plus freight . Never have seen another one like it or a Russell with a Bolster that has been Double Struck .

Both have to be fairly rare .

That Pruner always stuns me when I see it 🧐 Got to be the Find of the Century and it's fitting it went to the home of a keen gardener:thumbsup: as Tina Turner said, " Simply the Best"

Thanks, Will

Fixed blade would have to be my Mora Number 1. I think it was under or around $10 when I got it 5 or 6 years ago.
A close second/runner-up would be my two white handle made in USA "Walmart Special" Buck 877. I think on clearance they cost about the same as the Mora.

Folder is a bit harder ... I'll have go with a generic "One of my Rough Rider's?".
Most were acquired back when they were $12 and less ... usually less.
They may be circa 2013-2015, but they are still just as tight as the day they came out of the boxes, and haven't needed more than dry stropped, even after carving/whittling seasoned oak.

Only place I've seen used knives around here is at the pawnshops. Never saw one at a yard/garage sale.

Wife found and gifted me her grandfather's USA made Old Timer Trapper. Cleaned and sharpened it then forced a patina on it. Love it!

I got a small wiseman barlow for 175. I still feel like that is my favorite knife for that type of money. Its just awesome. great fit/finish and just a fantastic feel.
