Thanks a lot James, that's a great-looking knife and a fine compass :)

Classy Sunday carry with a Case Executive courtesy of Mr. Knife's never ending giveaway. Round 6 going on now!

Thanks Jack, that compass got me around quite well during many outdoor adventures. I often argued with it but it was never wrong. ;):)

Absolutely my friend, I still have the Silva compass I bought in 1982 :) We have covered thousands of miles together, and I had it in my pack only yesterday :)

Jack, as you know a good compass makes a trusted travel companion. So much so that if push came to shove, a person who knows how to use one may be better off with a paper map and a plastic compass than today's electronics. No batteries, no dependency on satellite reception ... mine still travels with me whenever there's a chance it may be needed.

I couldn't agree more James :) I remember, back when I was an outdoor writer, being bored silly (along with a dozen other outdoor journalists and gear testers) by a feller telling us all about the new civilian GPS systems. The following day, we all went off to the hills, so he could demonstrate the device. Unfortunately, the batteries had gone flat during the night! :D

That's a nice set-up :)

I have a few old pocket-compasses, like this 19th century model by F Barker & Son
