The TRADITIONAL sunday picture show!!!!

Years ago, I used to collect all manner of antique tools but carpentry tools in particular. My collection is much smaller now, mostly just inherited stuff though I still have a small stash. I heard you like drafting tools so I checked my stash but didn't find any. I thought this old Stanley rule might be close.

Nice knives, Ramrodmb and Jack

Cool pic r8shell

It is, and that MOP is just plain beautiful ;)

Have a great Sunday everyone

Thank you, Jack. Those are lovely knives, and it looks like Spring has finally sprung in your neck of the woods. :D

That's very kind of you to remember my interest in drafting tools, and the Stanley is very nice. Thank you. It does bring to mind an interesting phenomenon. I really feel my age when I come across items that I remember being in common use, and are now only found in vintage and antique shops. Drafting tools, slide rules, those thingies folks used to use to dial a phone, etc. What will be next? Car keys and checkbooks? :D

R8shell, best way I've found to shoot pearl is to use a primary and secondary light source with a slower shutter speed in subdued ambient light. Bright light, especially bright natural light, (sunlight is way too bright and blows out the white balance) Light coming from 2 directions brings out the fire and the longer exposure time allows you to use a lower ISO setting the problem here is most shots like that require a tripod or a sand bag to rest the camera on. The slower speeds amplify any movement and blur the picture. Most people find it difficult holding still below 1/50 of a sec shutter speeds.

The top one is more accurate, it's a very white pearl with hints amber in it, the light in the bedroom where I took the pic has compact fluorescents above so it gave it the yellow hue in the bottom pic without the flash.

Thanks a lot my friend, yes, the weather has been very kind to us this year :)

The reflection in the bottom bolster has me perplexed.
