Thank you Ratbert. Yes, it was mint in original package when I located it. The clear packaging could not be saved. It had deteriorated until it could no longer hold even the weight of the knife, it would break thru just by picking it up. I knew it was vintage but have not been able to determine it's age. Thank you Jack I'll keep looking. So far I have only found tang stanps for US made Imperials but this new info should help. Thanks again.I've posted about this before a few times, including last St Patrick's Day I thinkImperial took over Jowika of Listowel, Ireland at the end of the 70's, and only had them a couple of years I think. You should be able to find the dates OK, so your knife was made in a fairly brief window. They took over Richards of Sheffield around the same time, but only began stamping some of the knives 'Imperial England' towards the end (1982). If you can't find dates, PM me, and I'll dig them out
Edit - The period you're looking at is 1978-1982, and probably towards the end of that period for that tang-stamp![]()
