The TRADITIONAL sunday picture show!!!!

No puppets and no hands involved :D

That’s awesome !!
But I know exactly what he’s thinking by the look in eyes.
“Dad if you don’t unhook me from this branch your trying to put me on I’m going to poop on your pillow tonight”
OK, I confess lol ... my lovely wife's hands were involved in holding Toby up.
When I told her about the comments I was getting about the raccoon pic she wanted to be part of the fun too :)
It's been a fun weekend :) ... temps were milder and we were out and about in nature a good while.
Now my kids keep asking me " what are the knife guys saying about the pictures of the raccoon and Toby " LOL :D

Toby is a cutie and deserves all the hugs and kisses he gets and then some :)

Did my first boil of the 2020 sugar season Saturday, 2 weeks earlier than last season and double the sap, off to a good start, spent around 7 hours boiling yesterday fighting the freezing temps and wind made it not ideal for boiling but like most labors of love always well worth it in the end, gave me time to make a few more spiles.

I’d also like to apologize for not getting back to some folks who had questions, I sort of take quick glances at the forum early around 3am so I tend to not respond, so I’m sorry for not remembering who asked but I’ll try to answer the questions anyways.

I make the spiles out of young maples I cut down, I generally use a congress for all of them but if I’m in a rush I might take bulk wood and bark off with a Case Copperlock or my Mora but I’d say 90% of the time it’s just a Congress knife it just right for the task.
My sap collecting setup is a hodgepodge of traditional buckets, hangers and bags, stainless steel and aluminum spiles and economical homemade wood spiles with food safe containers.

Have a great day everyone

LOL! :D That's a nice one Paul, who is the maker?

- thanks, Jack

It is from Willie Paulsen, about 7~8 years ago.

For his small stature, he's a lion of a man, because not long after this he had to have both legs amputated due to bad blood circ.

He jumped back into his workshop surprisingly quickly and worked from two types of wheelchair. In the end it all got a bit too much and decided to retire from making and now does lovely wooden pens and the like.

This pic about the time I bought it...

Another shot of the folder...
