The Trident

OOPS! :footinmou

My mistake...it isn't the TF-2 I'm ordering, it's the TF-3 (the tiger-striped one with the serrations).

Lucky me, my folks have a knife shop, so they cut me really good deals on any knife or sword I want to buy.

I just hope the Trident works as well for lefties like me, as it does for right-handed people.
Must you tease us poor tridentless people.

For the benefit of anyone unsure about the Sharpmaker:

It has two preset angles, 30 degrees and 40 degrees, inclusive, that's 15 and 20 on each side.

It can be used as a benchstone if you prefer doing some knives freehand. Just turn the base over and lay the rods in the grooves you will find there.

An individual rod can be used freehand almost like a steel, of course, and this is especially useful when touching up serrations.

Thanks for the info on the Sharpmaker. All my blades apparently have a 20-degree angle, or slightly higher. I never knew the standard edge was 20 degrees on each side. Learn a new thing every day, eh!

I'm working on a deal for an Apex Complete Kit right now for a phenominal price, along with the Trident and a Ka-Bar 1211. Buying power is a great thing, and if the sale goes through this seller will get a lot more business from me for the next little while. I have a lot of edged stuff that need to be replaced. The EOD-Powerlock would be in this order too if it weren't slightly overpriced in Canada. Even with the discount, the Powerlock is still priced a bit high.

I'm looking at the Pup Elite. It looks like the ideal knife to carry while I'm mountain biking. I'm looking at more SOGs for a longer fixed blade too. If SOG's AUS-8/6 is as good everyone says, all my edged tools will end up being SOGs. SOG's lineup has everything covered and for awesome prices on the net.

The TREV-7 Revolver looks like a great piece of equipment. A sturdy pocket saw is something I've always been telling myself to look for.

The Trident is being issued within the US Armed Forces, does anybody have news on how it achieved such acclaim? As in tests, etc.
I'm still interested in any history on the Trident's design phase, if possible.

I've been drooling over SOGs new Seal Pup Elite ever since I first saw the picture, I am definitivly going to buy one when they come out.:D

I wonder Why that would be, you might want to try E-Bay I got mine there for $38.00 with shipping

Hey just an update.
I haven't ordered a Trident yet. I'm trying to find a dealer that will give a discount on a group buy on different items. I have my list plus my friends' lists so I'm hoping to score a deal.

But anyways, does anybody have a Trident and a digital camera?
I want regular real-world photos of the TF3 coating, to see how it differs from blade to blade. Or just to see if the promo photos around the net are what the pattern actually looks like.

I'm looking forward to the SAT opening function.

And as for eBaying for a better price, I don't use eBay. I never tried it, but I probably will in the future.
