Hey you tried and no damage done (just not as fun as you wanted), I salute you
Thanks for sharing and maybe we'll learn something from that too. Maybe the next time (soon) we'll just be jealous for all the fun and "good" experiences you had!
You must have been over on the Nicolet side. You might want to look at some tools to get you unstuck next time. 4x4 is not always the answer. It might make stuck even worse. Not that I want to be without mine. Carry a digging shovel/trench tool, some folding pieces of ply wood that will slide under tires when you them in the air and another piece to put under a scissor jack that goes flat and has a decent handle. The ones from the big GM cars work nice. You can pick one up from a salvage yard. Oh yea bring some Point beer to have at the end.
All the fondest memory's I have are from the most difficult situations.
The smell of the air after being caught in a desert storm.
The taste of hot coffee after being caught out in a blizzard.
The way the sun felt on me after I capsized a canoe.
The finest gourmet meal cant compare to a small trout I had when I tried living off the land.
I've often thought of bringing my dog out on a overnighter, but she's an inside dog as well and would probably be more trouble than it's worth. She isn't that patient in the woods either.
