Ohh, I think we could get it to cut. I did one that size that would do a half mat tatami omote if you put some english on it.

It depends on a bunch of things. Whether it's through hardened or differential hardened is the biggest.
If it's through hardened (which that was) it involves heat sink paste and heat-if it's a knife you're really fond of it's not a process for the fainthearted
if it's differential hardened and a manageable thickness it's easier.
I'm being vague because I don't want to be responsible for broken favorite knives...
