The true history of S30V development

Thank you Mr. Barber for posting, and welcome. It's always nice to learn about these things from the folks that were there and had first hand experience with them. Thank you for making CPM-S30V. :D

All I can say is WOW! Thanks RTBarber for sharing your first hand knowledge. This is just another reason why BFC is such a great place. Someone who was instrumental in developing some of the newest and best knife steels takes the time to educate us on the process. Thanks again.

Are you also Crompal

yes but that id was attached to my crucible email account which no longer exists so I created a new log in id

S30V/S35 is a great steel and will hold an edge a lot longer if it is bumped up a point in hardness, the strider that i had with paul bos treat was awesome in edge retention vs my crk. Also thank you very much Mr. Barber for s30v without it i am sure people would have been too lazy to make a better steel in the cutlery industry.

Best of both worlds... send your CRK blade to Farner and bump it up a point or two.

So S30V was developed specifically for knives? With the development of S35VN, will it be replaced or production stopped? Are there other applications for it that would keep it around if S35VN replaces it for knives?

Where are the haters CrimsonTideShooter and Wolf3591?

They sure mixed it up when they "knew" CRK had nothing to do with steel development. Now their mis-truths are found out and they are nowhere to be found. Hey boys, MAN UP.

First off, let's refrain from discussing members instead of discussing the subject matter. Failure to do so comes at a price.
Secondly, both of those members have been asked to refrain from posting in this sub-forum by CRK via our administrative staff. Neither has argued the issue and they have been advised to work out the matter with CRK before coming back to participate. Now, let's please move on from name calling and finger pointing.
