I will probably piss off some of our dealers with this posting but I don't care. The truth is the truth and our end-user customer is what means the most to us and deserves to be told the truth. Here's an email that was sent out this morning to all of our dealers:

All:

We are receiving calls and emails from customers saying that their dealer is telling them we are behind on shipping product. This is not the case. We are still shipping product in the 2-3 week lead time as we always have. Currently we have no orders that are further out than 3 weeks.

There has been a run lately on buying ESEE knives so most likely your sales have picked up causing you to be out of a particular product. If this is the case then adjust your inventory on your next order but please do not tell your customer that we are late on shipping because that is simply not true.

Again, thanks for being a dealer of our knives and gear. We appreciate it.

We can say nothing else but this: I LOVE YOUR HONESTY even if it pisses off someone else

Interesting you bring this up because one of the german dealers that I planned to order from had such a notice on his page for the whole January that he was still waiting for the order of Nov 2010... Products like the 5/6 pouch were available for like what? 3 days and now they are out of stock again...

Again, thanks for your honesty, really appreciate it. Maybe some of the dealers wake up now and see that you guys are following what happens out there ;)

Another point that needs top be brought up is a lot of dealers order through distributors and not directly from us. So, if they are not getting their orders within the 3 week timeframe then they need to be talking to their distributor about that becasue we are still shipping distributor orders within the 3 week time frame of when it was turned in. Now, if we ship within 3 weeks of getting the order. UPS takes another 5 days. Then the distributor has to receive it and enter it then ship back to the dealer, I can easily see a 4-6 week turn around on the dealer order.

With that said, some of the large SHOT show orders will not ship (complete) within the 3 week time frame so it's possible going forward that shipping will get stretched out a little. All I'm saying is it hasn't happened yet.

Again, we appreciate all of our dealers and customers but let's just make sure that we are all on the same page and letting our customer know the exact truth when they call us.

I'm talking Rowen made knives with this post. It is true that some of the 5/6 MOLLE Backs have had quite a delay on them from us, so that dealer is telling the truth if he is talking about MOLLE backs. Not knives though ;)

Sorry, forgot to mention that his information was on the whole ESEE line :D He only had a few knifes of yours in stock for the past couple of weeks :grumpy:

Decided to order from US shops from now on eventhough the shipping costs will just shred my money :D

I need to make it clear here that we are not pissed at anyone. This has been happening with several dealers for the past couple of weeks and before it gets viral and everyone saying that ESEE is not shipping knives, it simply neded to be cleared up. Or dealers do a great job, but ESEE considers its end-user customers the most important thing there is, so we just want them to stay accurately informed. Again, if that pisses a dealer off, oh well. End users will always come first to us.

As far as soft goods go, we can be anywhere from next day shipping to 3 months behind on MOLLE Backs and such. But that does NOT stop a knfie order from shipping out to a dealer.

Again though, we expect lead times to get streteched out from the 3 weeks. SHOT show orders were big and it's going to start causing some delays in our normal ship times. And we take full repsonsibility for that BUT it has not happened yet.

Our Last shipment to the German distributor went out on January 13th. Not sure what he means by a Nov 2010 order. Of course this may be a German dealer you are speaking of that buys from the dealer.

Since this posting I have received several emails form our dealers and to make things right I understand where some of them are getting things confused. After SHOT show I instructed Patricia to let the dealer network know that we may be 4-6 weeks out on delivery of product due to the large orders we received at SHOT. This is an aniticpated future delivery time frame, not a current one. So, I think some of the dealers have taken that as being the gospel on their current orders they have in and that's simply not the case. Until Rowen tells me that they are getting further out on lead times, the current shipping times are no longer than 3 weeks. That may change but rigth now it is the time frame.

My apologies to any dealers who misunderstood that the 4-6 weeks meant on all orders. That was simply a timeframe we are giving in anticipation of shipping delays due to large orders.

My distributor quoted me "up to 6 weeks". Makes sense, being in Canada - it can sit in customs a week or more easily.

Even 6 weeks is not long of a wait. I'm waiting 5 years for each of my Randall knife orders.

If you want the Ray Mears Woodlore knife, current shipping time is 10 years. That's crazy. I draw the line at any knife that takes more than 9 1/2 years to get to me :)

Thanks for being open about it Jeff.

Exactly, so I can understand being quoted 6-8 weeks on International orders that are coming from the States. And as I said, it won't be long until we will be increasing our lead times due to SHOT orders, but right now we are still running about 3 weeks out to dealers and dsitributors.

Interesting. My vendor of choice has not had the ESEE 5 in any configuration form a long time. That is the particular knife that I want to take on a hike that is planned for Easter weekend. They told me it would be 1 week, 4 weeks ago...

They are probably buying from a distributor, or either over-sold on what they had on order. Only reason i would know for this.

Thanks for the information. Well, looks like I'll keep on waiting. It's still a ways off. If all else fails I'll have to pack the Izula as the primary and make due ;)

If it wasn't such a good price I would have already canceled my Junglas order and gone elsewhere. The thing that bothers me is that my current dealer (I sound like a junkie) shows the same stock online week after week even though they have a back log of customers waiting on these.

On that note...if any dealers out there in BladeForum world want to sell me one for 160 shipped my allegiance is for sale :D

All I can do is apologize on behalf of ESEE. Again, our orders are currently going out in the 3 week times frame that we are receiving them from the distributors and dealers. Not sure if your dealer has over-sold or just not getting orders from their source but they need to update their web site to keep it from being so frustrating to the buyer / end-user.

Again, our apologies.

Bad business... making us wait.. to the exchange!

Ok, to be serious.. it is to be expected, especially with a smaller company and right after SHOT.

My statement about their online inventory in no way was meant to be a reflection of ESEE in any way. I just find the tactic, if that's what it is, to be unethical and unfair to potential buyers who think they have stock. If it was a few days I could understand but the inventory number has not changed in weeks since one of my friends and fellow BF members ordered his. He had to wait a couple weeks until they got some in and he was number 16 or so out of the 18 they got in and immediately shipped out. You guys are great and I have yet to see any bad reviews of either your products or your customer support. You have no need to apologize for another companies failings.
