The truth in the rukus

I EDC a rukus and have a mini on rotation in my other pocket. I absolutely love this knife!!! IMHO the Rukus is the best combo of durablity, functionality, and ergonomics BM has to offer. (some of this has to do with my having the opinion that a drop point is the most all around useful and toughest blade shape, so i have a little bias)

I have a bad point to the Rukus, the clip is flimsy for a knife of this size. Get it caught on something and be prepared to unscrew it and bend it back in place. I altered my clip with a dremel a bit to keep it from catching on things as easily.

I'll second this. The clip is very poorly designed IMO. I respect that Benchmade tried something different with the clip on the Rukus, but I'd prefer it if they had used their standard, parkerized clip. I ALMOST didn't buy the Mini-Rukus because of the clip. But I bought it anyway. The clip is the only thing about it I don't like- it's just too wiggly and flimsy. I don't like lowrider clips in general, and especially not examples with only 2 screws, in vertical configuration. That's a recipe for clip wiggle if I've ever heard one.

I plan to eventually get a PE mini-Rukus when the $ comes. I also have a preference for drop-point blades for all-around use.

well thats a hard one... I would buy the larger one. It is the knife that I use all the time, it is everything that I ask for in a knife. I really can't give enough accolades to this knife, it kind of innoys me not using it. I think that really the reason I keep the little one on me is because I deside to go back to college after several years of doing ironwork(which I love but doesn't pay enough) I pull out the mini when I need a knife but know that there are people around that will most likely get a little freaked if I flick out a 4.25"blade. Given my druthers I might replace it with a 4-4.25 SE knife(maybe a milli or police)

I'm looking @ BM630, Strider SMF and Kershaw zt0301 right now :) My consolation to the people who freak out over knives is not carrying a fixed EDC.

BTW I like the pocket clip too, I use it to pop beer caps so I don't scrach the blade, never had a problem with it catching on anything but my pocket, you do have to tighten it once in a while (locktite will almost alleviate this)

I'm a big fan of the Rukus 610. I have the standard pe satin finished model and have switched the grips to the ivory micarta and really like the look it presents. I like everything about the Rukus except for the clip; and I'll just reinforce what has already been said...TOO THIN AND FLIMSEY! I'm a big fan of the foldover deep carry clips but BM simply made this clip too thin for my tastes. It doesn't keep me from carrying it though, but I do wish they would do a thicker clip for it.

When I flick my Rukus open and closed, I really have to be mindful of my pinky finger. For some reason the pinky never finds a comfortable place to rest on the scale while flicking.
