This is probably a really stupid question but I gotta know. I have owned four of Emersons knives nad have never had any complaints. M only problem is the fact that every time I see them in a store in in NYC the all seem to have that same chisel grind. I want to know if you order direct from Emerson is it possible to get the CQC-7 with a double grind? I believe it's also called a V-grind? I wrote to the company but I wanted to be sure I was using the right term. They wrote back twice by the way and were very helpful but I don't want to bug them anymore with this. I wonder could somebody please help me? Thanks very much your time.

If I understand it correctly, there are primarily two types of grinds and designs

The A Blade
CQC7-A
Specwar-A
Raven-A
SOCFK-A
Commander
Mach-1
These knives have the "V-Grind"
They are ground on both sides. They have a "curve" blade, ie, a gentle curve as opposed to an angle. The Police Utility probably falls into this category as well
(I believe the Commander is the only one with a recurve blade)

The B Blade
CQC7-B
Specwar-B
Raven-B
SOCFK-B
These blades have the "chisel grind"
They are ground on one side only, the back of the blade has no grind or bevel, it is flat.

Did I miss any?

Thanks very much for the time you took to answer me. It was a big help. Thanks again

justin.

Its my understanding that the commander has a V primary grind, but the actual edge grind is still chisel. Is this correct? Thats been one of the things holding me back from buying one. If it indeed has both a V primary and edge grind, I'm there come next "spending period". E
