The Tyrant Bowie is here.

I have 50 Z Tuff blades, and 40 CPM 3V blades available for order. I will also be listing 8 Prototypes at a great discount. I am also GIVING AWAY 2 Tyrant Bowies. 2 luck winners will get their order free in any configuration they'd like. So order and hope the random number generator picks you!

This launch has already been delayed a few times so I'm just saying "F*** it, we"ll do it live!"

I do not have pictures of all the scale options, completed production blade, or cerakote options, BUT we will make this work.

First, I want to go over the differences between the prototype blades pictured and the production model.

The production model will look almost exactly like the prototype with 3 small changes
1. The fuller is slightly longer and a little bit deeper + we added a small cutout in the tang to further reduce weight. These two changes cut out around 2 ounces.
2. The scales are 3/8th thick instead of 1/2in (this is much more comfortable, trust me)
3. The production model will be fully stonewashed and have precision ground flats (no mill scale)

- Note, these WILL have tooling marks on the fuller, but the stonewashed finish on the bevels and flats will be impeccable. I think everyone will be super happy with the fit and finish, these are lightyears better than the Fell Beast.

I don't want you to have to pick to the scales and blade finish options you want without first seeing them, so heres how this will work. Basically, pick the steel you want today and place a deposit, and then you can finalize your scales and blade finish options in 2-3 weeks when I have pictures up of all the different handle materials and cerakote options. To do this, just edit your original post.

To order:
1. Post in this thread and specify if you would like Z Tuff or CPM 3V, (or one of the 8 Z Tuff prototypes). A $400 deposit will be due today to lock in your order at the discounted pricing.
After you post, send me an email to huntsmanknifeco AT gmail DOT com with your real name, forum name, and post number and I will send you a PayPal invoice. (please make sure your PP shipping address is the place you want your knife sent)
2. Once I have the pictures of the scales and blade finish options posted, go back and edit your original post and select the scales and blade finish you would like. I will have the pictures up in around 2-3 weeks.
3. The remaining balance will be due when your blade is ready to ship. I will send you a second PP invoice when your blade is finished.

Turn around time for these will be absolutely rapid. Both the Z Tuff version and 3V version will begin shipping in 3-4 weeks.

Now, onto the actual blade, which is pretty kick@ss if you ask me.

The Tyrant Bowie Specs
  • Z Tuff 61RC or CPM 3V steel 61RC both with optimal low temper heat treat and cryo.
  • 13.3in blade
  • 19.2in overall
  • .290 thick
  • 2.4in tall at widest point
  • Finish: Fully Stonewashed with tooling marks visible on the fuller.
  • ~.030 BTE thickness
  • Weight- Roughly 31.8 ounces. with terotuf, will vary depending on handle material.

Ill just start by saying, the Tyrant Bowie lives up to its name. This thing is massive, but still 100% usable. I imagine this is around the size a period correct Roman gladius would be. Its basically a short sword that still has great knife characteristics. That said, this is more of a camp knife or knife you keep in your truck. I would not want to hike a mountain with this thing on my belt. I think everyone will be really impressed with the fit and finish and how clean the grind lines are. This knife looks great. Its stunning in person and has some serious presence. And for being over 19 inches long and cut from .290 stock, I think you will be happy with how light it is. We spent a ton of time and effort getting the weight and feel correct. It was not easy.

The jimping on the spine looks great and is super comfortable, and while I'm normally opposed to choils, I think it really helps with the fine work. The chopping power is top notch as you would expect but the tip is very light. I recommend using a loose grip when chipping and clearing brush and just letting the blade do the work.

BIO
The Tyrant Bowie is the first blade from our Tyrant Lineup. The goal of the Tyrant line is simple, make the biggest, baddest interpretation of a classic design while maintaining maximal performance.

We engineered this model from the ground up to be the king of all bowies. With a 13.3in blade that flares to a whopping 2.4in at its widest point, the Tyrant Bowie dwarfs the competition.

Even with its impressive dimensions, the Tyrant Bowie is still well balanced, nimble, and suitable for knife tasks like carving, food prep, and fire starting. When it comes to chopping, this thing packs a serious punch despite its light weight frame.

Featuring possibly the largest swedge ever done on a production knife, the the tip of Tyrant Bowie gracefully transitions to a natural distal taper keeping the tip light and snappy for brush clearing.

High quality pancake style Kydex sheath with TEK LOCK included.

PRICING
First off, I'm super proud of the pricing I'm able to offer. I firmly believe this is the most knife you can get for your money and it includes shipping and a great sheath with a tek lock. I always want to deliver value, and I think if you look at the competition, you'll be hard pressed to find a knife this size, with this quality of materials, at this price point.

Z TUFF with G10, Micarta, or Terotuf scales $950 --> $850
3V with G10, Micarta, or Terotuf scales $1150--> $1050

IF you want a Z TUFF Prototype (the exact blade in the pictures) pricing is $700 and they are only available with satin bevels and acid etched mill scale on the flats. Be warned, they weigh a couple ounces more than the production version.

Price includes CONUS shipping and your choice terotuf, G10, or micarta w/ a very nice pancake style Kydex sheath with Tek Lock.

International orders are fine as long as you are willing to accept risk of loss. I will ship will full insurance.

Also we have some additional options below,

+ $100 for black cerakote
+ $400 for the 24K special edition with gold cerakote and gold carbon fiber scales and gold screws. This rendition will blow your mind

Deep Blue Terotuf
Grey Terotuf
Orange Terotuf
Natural canvas micarta
Black G10
Orange G10
Bright Yellow G10
Gold inlayed carbon fiber ( +$250, available with gold screws)
I may add some more options

You can purchase an extra set of scales for $65 if you'd like.

Housekeeping
The blades will be completed roughly in the order they are received. If you post first, you will get your blade faster.
Your post number is how I will process your order, so please only post your order one time.

Below are pictures of the prototypes. The blue and grey handled blades are pictured with satin bevels and mill scale on the flats. If you decide to order a prototype, this is what it will look like.

I've also included a picture of a green handled prototype with a stonewashed finish, this is much closer to what the production version will look like. Just imagine the fuller being a little longer and deeper and the flats being precision ground. Also the grinds are kind of washed out from removing the mill scale, they will be ultra, ultra sharp and crisp

I bet that piece is as expensive as it looks too!

Does it really have those large dimples that the coloration makes it appear to have or is that just an optical illusion?
Oh it was... and the sheet is completely 100% flat. Its all optics. This stuff looks like raindrop damascus.
