The ULTIMATE KnifeKnut Dilemma - how to deal with the mate!

First thing to tell her is that if things get tough you can readily sell them, lots of times for a profit, As for my personal situation,my girlfriend loves knives, carries an automatic herself, and wants to start her own collection and business based on knives-preferably automatics

I'm single at the moment, but none of my previous GFs had a problem with my guns, knives, and watches. They actually preferred me getting watches as that were not as "dangerous" as guns and knives, despite them costing more than either. The way I look at it, until I'm engaged it's all "my" money. After I'm engaged/married, it becomes "our" money. So, my plan from day one has been to amass as many toys of all sorts as possible before "my" money becomes "our" money and I can't get any more cool stuff.

Once I'm hitched, then all my toy buying will cease, except for all forthcoming iterations of the Paystation, which will forever be in the household.

Hahahaha that gives me a whole new perspective of KnifeKnut that I had not thought of before. Man, were you sleeping on the couch after those photographs were developed?

No :). She knows I am crazy about my knives and she knew I had the knife with me. Actually when she saw the picture she was mad at me because I did not tell her the picture was taken and she "did not :) smile :) at the moment"....

BTW soon I will be posting pictures of my 7 months old son playing with my knives ....

I think in pursuing any hobby that costs money or time you have to be reasonable. You should be hard nosed enough to look at your finances and say what is available for discretionary spending in the way of fun stuff or entertainment and then make a decision as to what's available to spend. Keep in mind your wife would like to spend some money too, so if you hog every available dollar, she is going to get pissed. If your car is falling apart, and the house needs a new roof, then I think you should reconsider a new 1500 dollar custom knife for the time being. Make rational choices based on family needs. Everybody has some fun money. Just spend wisely. If you could buy every knife you wanted today, at once, the hobby would not be as much fun. Time is your friend. Over time your tastes in knives changes anyway. Take your time and buy what you can afford as you can afford it. Savor the experience, and be fair to the family budget. Same goes for guns or fast cars or any other hobbies depending on your budget.
