What is your Favorite/ Ultimate Survival Knife. I know "it's the knife that you have on you when you encounter a survival situation".

What I'm looking for is your ultimate dream knife :D custom? factory? what-ever

Let's see some pictures

Well, someone is still in progress of finishing my "Ultimate survival knife" ... it's somewhat a modified version of the one I'm using now :D Pics at the end of the month!

SpiderKen,
Dont leave us hanging like that, at least give us some details.

I'm a big fan of Moras, and Scandinavian 0 grind knives too. I really like the look of the knife in the "bushcraft thread". I also own several prybar knives.

I think the ultimate survival knife would be Battle Rat or Camp Tramp from Swamp Rat Knife Works. I dont own one yet, but I have the little brother, the Howling Rat. Very Wood knives, and not oo expensive. Untill I get one, I will be useing an SRK, which is also very good for the price.

Thor

Quir Bear,
A Scandi 0 grind is where the profile is a wide flat bevel that runs to the edge of the blade, with no significant secondary bevel. The angle is engineered to match the quality of the steel and intended use. The result is a very keen edge. This is the type of grind that most mora style blades have.

Dr. Thor,
I have a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp, and its a very nice blade. The CT is a great chopper and very durable. My only complaint is the handle, I just hate rubber handles.

I've got the prybar type blades, as well as a Becker BK7, which is a good all around blade at a good price. It lives in my pack. A Mora 2000 lives on my belt. I like the mora's. Would like to upgrade and expand my interests in the scandi's eventually.

Here are a couple of Pry-bar Survival knives

Here's a group that are included in my varioius kits or pockets. Nothing special, but all do a good job.

My ultimate survival knife has to have a few criteria before I will consider it a pure survival blade.Must have a 6-7 inch blade,a semi fine point for piercing fish bellies,or skin, must have a slim blade profile by that I mean not to wide of a blade.A good example is my simonich Raven,or a RAT7 or any ka-bar type blade with a drop point.I dont understand choosing a chopping blade like a wide NO or camp tramp for my only survival blade.I tried a couple times to filet with a NO and completely butchered my catch due to an obtuse point and wide blade profile,I feel that any chopping knife is an excellent survival choice when paired with a SAK or the like, but for a pure carry on your side do it all blade anything in the 5-7 inch range is cool(my 2cents) :)

I agree about pry-bar survival knives, they really do not cut that well because of the thickness of the blade.

Here is my EDC Swiss Army Knife.

Myakka,

The matchsafe that is in the picture is that an "Everdry" matchsafe?
It looks new, can you still get these?

Best scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Bagheera,
Yes the matchsafe is a everdry. I bought it off ebay a year ago for $4.95. I see them still all the time, just do a search for "everdry".

i guess if you are looking for just one tool i'll go with my busse bm E as i have enough experience with it that i know it can handle about anything but i would sure miss my sak for the smaller tasks
