both have vfds and I could use them but the viel is just plain simpler and easier than setting one of the others up. I also have speed controller that's foot operated on the viel, got it thru McMaster carr. the controller cost more than the viel did. for the money spent the viel isn't bad plus it makes a heck of a drill bit sharpener with the attachment
