The Ultra-Rare Busse Hatchet Prototype (1 of 3 made)

I know of at least one that is marked, I can't speak for the rest of them. Wish I had saved those pics.

aaah the busse ax... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH...... such a usefull object... and for price of a shbm!! i would put that at that in the range of a american kensai, but a little higher on the personal value, because of how much more use i would get out of it then the sword. since i cant afford the machete that is  .... needless to say, you will have NO problem selling that thing whatsoever. unless you price it at 2 grand.... then you might have to wait a while...

and to the gerber camp axes.... i hate them dearly... first try with mine, i rolled the edge and shoved wood chips under the head caseing :( .... im probably going to end up selling it for 10-15$ because i dont feel its worth even that much. go with brunsford if you want a fairly cheap ax to beat on. i would beat on my gerber to intentionally break it, not to get the job done quick and dirty...

The NYC Show in 2000? Did it come from Busse directly or a third party table? I'm just curious because that handle doesn't fit a Busse profile I'd expect in a prototype (still to be released) for the year 2000.

Interesting observation DN. I think we need Jerry to weigh in on this one. What say you Busse?

DN,

Yeah, that front talon hole is a kicker isn't it? A hole where there shouldn't be one. Man we could use some pics of the others for comparison.

Also the (what appears to be) partially grooved smooth micarta with slotted fasteners. That would date this piece quite a bit before '00.

An example are the CE Battle Mistresses. They started in '97 and didn't finish until sometime in '99 (I believe). However the original style wasn't kept. They switched over to tube fasteners (as with the CG line) on those Mistresses even though they were a limited run that was introduced at the beginning of the mistress's history.

I just think it would be very unique and interesting if Jerry made a prototype with a vintage style for a model to be released in '01. Assuming '01 since we're talking 11/00 for the NYC show.

Oops, I am guessing it was from 2000, it might have been 1999, but I dont believe it was 2001 or 1998, I dont remember.

It was directly from the Busse Table, and he told me they had 3 of them, and the other 2 were sold. I dont know their names, but I have seen their pics here before, probably the 2 owners. Anyway, I will be sending it to Busse to Refinish and High-Res pics will be posted when its done :D

And then Im sure all the Busse Aficianados will weigh on on the exact detail of this bad boy.

It might have been NYCKS 1999. Did you get it from Andy Prisco? There were two INFI axes on the Busse table that year. One with the skull crusher and one without. I'll try to dig up a picture of that table later tonight.

Yep, it ws the 1999 show. Found the pictures:
