hey, look what the mailbeing brought me today (middle item)
the knife has a lot of heft. bit of that resin smell
evilcarta!
it's very sharp, and a pretty good grind, with a whee hint of a "hook" at the nose, slightly different lines each side, but very good. quite the cutter. people are always saying "hair popping sharp", and this is. a bit of use, and some stropping, will break that edge right in.
i don't know what kind of steel it is, but it "feels" really good when cutting. took it into a 2x4 for some peelings, and a little light hacking, sweet.
i really need to learn about how this pinning stuff works, including with the hollow tubing. i can't imagine easily how that holds the slabs on.
thank you leatherface!
ETA: turns out that andy's sheath for the CRKT adirondack guide (top knife), fits the messy-nessy better, and as both came from forumites, that's how it's going to be.
i might use the AG as more of a kitchen knife soon - it has no sheath now - but i'm thinking of making kydex and leather as well soon, so we'll see - nothing better than an andy sheath though (well except leatherface's of course :>). i have a plan to replace some/most of my kitchen knives with "weird stuff", and i probably should box up, and store the ginsu-type crap and/or use those for nasty jobs like cutting boxes and stuff
