The unofficial, non binding, carries no weight, 2020 forum knife possibility discussion thread

I want it to be a Lambfoot blade in meteorite steel with a saber tooth tiger ivory handle. And under $100
Is tooth the same as ivory? Both are dentine but not sure the fangs of the Smilodon would be ivory...any way more precious and rarer are the carnassial shears of the Thylacaleo...Australias own fully extinct marsupial lion...although such carnivorous beasts still exist they are mouse sized predators out of the desert...the Kultarr and Mulgara are two such slavering monsters.
This foolish tourist tried to handle a baby Mulgara... and was eaten alive and had his brain sucked out!

Maybe we should contact that guy in America who keeps tigers and lions that reckons hes bringing the STT back to life by inbreeding..o_O:rolleyes: ok he might end up with a hybrid tiger that has huge canines but it wouldnt be a STT....and then what? Sell em as pets? awww how cute ...ouch ouch.

Now you have me curious about what type of shield you'd choose? ;)

Shooting star. Star = 24k gold, tail = platinum

And I stress, this should be well under $100

Does that thing actually have Ivory canines?

Afraid so...but theyre so tiny you'd need to wipe out the entire species to get enough dentine (not ivory) for one set of scales..its ok we have other even rarer smaller ones...the Ningaui for instance.
WARNING: even just looking at a picture of the Ningaui (creature of the Babayagas worst nightmare) can potentially result in instant death.

I once had a n Australian guy tell me that North America had scarier animals than Australia. He said something like, poison snakes, we got those but so do you, spiders ditto,we got dingos y'all got coyotes, we got crocs y'all got gators, we got roos y'all got deer. He said but then you guys have, wolves, mountain lions, black bears, brown bears, Grizzlies, polar bears! I said you forgot wolverines badgers, and moose, and our possum is scarier than yours

Has the possum skinner been a forum knife?:D

See how I made that relevant to the thead lol

I have know people who kept Opossums as pets

Actually they're 95% bluff, they're easy to catch once you get the to turn they're butt towards you you just grab their tail. Hard part is getting them to turn, they'll either run away or if that dont work because they're cornered they do the pose like in the pic and make allot of noise. In my experience its actually rare to get one to "play possum",they probably do it more with actual predator attacks. I don't hurt them, other than one I kicked because we both mutually scared the crap outta each other. We both was in a small dark shed,he was determined to find the door and I became desperate to help him find it lol.

Dave...that guy was a fake Aussie....we dont say "y'all" we say "youz" as in youz have gators.
I heard today a 7m Whale Shark has been sighted nr montague island just off the coast here....might swim out and chase it into the shallows, sluce off its leathery pelt for sharkskin scales on the 2020 trad forum knife....which is what this thread us meant to be about until some idiot drove it off track....:rolleyes:

Lol, its been a number of years so he probably did say it that way. The y'alls are definitely mine, trying to peice together a memory lol. Could have been a fake though, I met a fake Irishman once:confused:
Let us know if your successful with the shark, I'll run up to Alaska and pull some toenails off a grizzly to make inlays for the shields:D:thumbsup:

About a million years ago, I was truckin' down a narrow, windy path along the Little Sue (Susitna) River. Having been skunked salmon fishing, my buddy and I were just intent on getting back to the truck (and the beers in the back of it). There were some small birch falls across the trail and I found myself at once throwing my leg over a lower log as well as ducking under a higher angled one. And, that's when she said hello...

Doubled up and with a leg mid-air, just to my front and slightly right at I don't know, 20 yards or so, a big brown was eyeballing me and stomping the ground with her front paws. To my immediate left was a deep, freezing river and I was in chest waders so that was certain death if I jumped in there. I was never so small and insignificant in my whole life. She guffed and pawed and snorted and then reared up on her hind legs and told me what she thought of me and then crashed on through the saplings, snapping them down as she went. Days later, they had to remove her for aggressive behavior.

But ya know, in hindsight, if I'da had a Blade Forums Buck Bird and Trout, I think I coulda taken her! :D

Honestly I've never seen a brown bear in person, and if I ever do I hope theres allot of ground between us. Black bears on the other hand are quite common where I grew up,thankfully they're not aggressive unless injured or cubs are involved. In fact my great grandmother kept a big stick painted like a candy cane beside the back door to chase them off with.I was about 7-8 first time I seen it, to this day watching my great grandmother run out the back door in her nightgown to smack a bear on the nose with a stick is one of the most badass things I've ever seen. "That'll teach him to keep his nose outta my maters"
Me :  uh...yes ma'am

Highly entertaining read here.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring to say that I’d be fine increasing the price as well for more options. Also would prefer GEC or similar quality.

Of the ideas I’ve read here, I think a PunchNut, Beerlow, or F&F Lamb appealed to me the most. I’d also be super into a single blade Whaler. Or a 78 pattern, clip/caplifter?

Im starting to think if theres one thing we dont need its more options...:)...but what we do need is an oversight comittee and people willing to take on the job...that said -it is only just February ...lets not peak too early...just keep those ideas flowing....eventually something sensible will happen...
