What are everyone's thoughts on handle thickness? As comfortable as I find the 2019 BF 86, I tend to favor carrying flatter/thinner knives that disappear in the pocket. Bone saw cut with a nice distal taper is on my wish list.

93 vs 86 comparison

I can compromise on thickness as long it’s a one blade clip.

Is that a narwhal beside the ship?
Apparently thats why it crashed....according to the black box recorder the captain was heard to shout "QUICK! HERE! HOLD MY BEER! THERE'S A BLOODY NARWHALE IN THE CANAL!" moments before the collision.

What happened to the Narwhale Flippers ?
They got munched up in the props...

:D The plot thickens!
So does the water in the Suez...with Narwhale blood and guts....a Narwhale Fin Soup if you will.

Being a sawcut, means it has to have a flat profile. GEC will leave a little meat on them to give them strength.

This then leads to a bolster conundrum - how to transition the profile of the scale into the bolster?

GEC tends to go with the big shave on the shoulder, which can look a bit off.

Another way to do it is to have a bevel extending all the way along the scale - which is what GEC did with the #14 barlow. But if you look closely at the photo of the sepia 15, they can only do that on one side due to the pin for the backspring getting in the way.

Or, flatten the bolster by a bit, or by a lot, to match the scales.

IMO the best is either the bevelled edges or a flatter top on the bolster. Or, go with a convex radiussed scale (i.e. not sawcut).

A couple of small changes would turn this mock up into something pretty cool.

- long pull
- more interesting scale color
- flattened profile (as above)

Now that we have resolved all those little hiccups ...gather round and lets have a rousing ,hearty but utterly tuneless rendition of Porchenbergs National Anthem..."Porchenbergers Are The Best" accompamied by the The Masssed Pipes and Drums of The 23rd Royal Highland McPorchernburhg McHighland Deserters.

Ahem ....mi mi meee.
Porchenberg Porchenberg is the best.
The Porch is so awesome,
it must be blessed.
Porchenbergers everywhere
Standing or seated.
Porchenbergers Porchenbergers
Can NEVER be defeated.

A beautiful anthem!

Perhaps we can get the Great Seal of Porchenberg etched on the blade?

Camillus Camillus - Thanks for the thorough insight, I knew there'd have to be a balance between the bolster, pins, and integrity of the scales, but that's more than I even considered. I know the experts will make the right choices! I'm a big fan of the single blade 86 pattern, and don't currently own a GEC barlow or clip point (which I gave up trying to hunt down), so this checks A LOT of the boxes for me as it is. Everything else is gravy!
