The Unofficial Pay it forward thread!

I'd actually love to try that one out.. I'm very curious how they're made. Pm inbound!

I already had my "donation" but hey, Im in the spirit!!!

USA Made Rigid Skinner up for grabs.. been used lightly, could use an edge, comes with the leather sheath!

Thanks for the pics!

I'll let somebody who really needs this get some use out of it. After looking at the pictures, I already have a knife that's very similar.

I'd love to take that Boker off you hands if what I have to offer to someone else is up to the task. I have 3 knives:

1) A brand new, never used USA made Buck Bantam 286 with Reaper (skull) scales with box that I just got a few weeks ago (I prefer the smaller 285 series for a work user)
2) A new USA made Winchester folder with combo blade (I dislike serrations)
3) A older (but new) Smith and Wesson Work Horse CH0021 (Honestly, it feels like a $5 China knife and has a slight recurve which I dislike-I don't even remember when/where I got it)

Please let me know if that is acceptable. I'll pay shipping on all three knives, regardless if they go to one person or three people.

PM me your address and I will get it out tomorrow.

You got it sir. It should go out today.

This was done before, and it went well for a while. Some folks were left high and dry, and others were trying to sell their stuff by disguising their "offerings". Keep it free from that and things will be alright. The last time something like this I recall several people were issued infractions when things got completely out of control.

Agree. As one involved in most of the last PIF threads, it is best to do such things in short bursts. Sustained giving turns into trading, and then to selling and begging. It's only good til the greedy folks come out. I'm glad I met all the people I did, and glad I made other folks happy. It was fun.

Shipping is at the discretion of the person offering the item IE: I personally don't mind shipping 1 knife however if it were a 50 lb barrel, I clearly may ask the person receiving to split and or cover shipping. At your discretion guys. .
I claim the barrel!:D

I don't mean to derail the thread, if you want me to edit it let me know.

I understand, and it sounds like a great idea.

I was just commenting on how it might be worthy of its own subforum. That way it would be a little more organized and each item could have its own thread. If I were you, I'd talk to the mod's about it.

A "Pay it Forward Arena" would be a really cool addition to BF:thumbup:
Ideally, that would be great. But, as others have mentioned, the PIF threads eventually start getting unwanted attention/activity. Shortly after joining, I participated in a PIF thread. Instead of requiring you submit something if you accepted something, it was more of an honor system. I offered a couple extra knives. I accepted a knife someone had done some DIY mods, and they probably accepted a knife/knives. They asked for my address and never sent it.

When I did a GAW, one of my restrictions was that the member have at least 100 posts. One person that entered had 3 total posts, and ALL 3 of them were "I'm in" posts in GAW threads.
I enjoy giving others what I can, and there are plenty of generous members here, but any opportunity to get something for free will inevitably attract people that are just 'takers'. I agree with Remykaze about how these threads are best done in short bursts.

I've been collecting dust with this Gerber boot knife for many years. Whoever owned it before me used it kind of hard though. It's a neat little knife but not something I can carry here in California.
Wow, that looks one of the older USA models from when they were at the top of their game. It doesn't look like there is anything wrong a good sharpening wouldn't fix. It might be worn, but nowhere near worn out!! I'm not asking for it, but I'm definitely wanting to add one of the older fixed blade Gerber USA knives to my collection in the future. Thanks for the contribution.

It is pretty nice and I have played with it a lot while sitting at my desk, but actually carrying it anywhere here would be asking for trouble. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I even want to deal with the possible legal hassle of mailing it to someone. Can a person get into legal trouble for shipping a knife like this to another individual?

I wouldn't think so. It's up to the person who receives ANY knife to know their local laws first.

Doubtful. Even in places where a certain knife or blade length is illegal to carry, I don't think anything other than ballistic knives are illegal to own and I'm not even sure it's illegal to own ballistic knives in every state.

They're illegal Federally, and it's a harsh penalty with no exceptions made unlike automatics.

I would like to offer my handmade S&W Shield holster. I have double stitched the wings; the front and back face is finished with neatsfoot oil and the edges have been dyed.

I would like to make it clear that should someone claim this item, it cannot ship until next week as I need access to the rest of my tools for some finishing work. Let me know if you are interested.

^^^Beaty work on the holster. ^^^

Liking the sound of this thread as I usually do give away my knives to others to enjoy as much as I have.

Some generous offers so far. I'll look to see what I can contribute.

You guy's rock! I'll have the knives shipped out this evening or tomorrow morning as works been an absolute bear!

Just an unhelpful update, the Volli hasn't arrived yet. USPS is being slow.

Anybody want my old beater PM2?

Blade is scratched and scuffed, has a good deal of sharpening wear, a little side to side play. But other than that, it's a solid user.

I'll take it, please.

I'll put up a NIB Puma P230501B. I've had it for years riding in the knife drawer. I'll post pictures later.
