Is anyone else having some issues with the USPS? I personally have three packages that I have shipped or am waiting on that are either lost or misdirected.

Can anyone beat that? Does anyone have more than three packages out twisting in the wind?

I shipped one last December....... it's still "enroute".

I had one stolen by the USPS. The buyer sent the package back to me which was clearly opened on purpose.

Always buy the insurance. They won't do ANYTHING if you don't have it! And by the way... they are very unhelpful and really don't give a damn about your problem. :thumbdn:

Geez... I really hope the government takes over our healthcare... Maybe they will be as efficient as the USPS... with the bedside manner of the IRS... :grumpy:

BTW... if you guys ever see this Ranger RD-9... please ask the owner if he works for the USPS... if he answers in the affirmative, please promptly punch him in the nose and give him my regards... unless, of course he is holding the knife. That would just be silly. I make it a matter of policy not to punch guys that are holding any blade capable of dismembering me. :D

Here is a pic of the stolen knife...Its pretty distinctive...

USPS has always been great to me.

I had 1 package that had 4 Rats in it left on the street corner leaned against the mailbox (by his own admission).....it disappeared, Post Office paid about 800 on that claim, just took a little time, but no hassle.

I had another one i recalled (seller didn't update his PP address) from a APO address. It would get kicked back from the east coast to a midwest sorting center just 5 miles from me then go back out to the east coast. This went on for more than a month. I figure that box had about 10,000 miles on it before it was pulled by a USPS employee and relabled. I worked with a woman in their resolution center, who did a great job getting this back to me. She was as frustrated as I was.
Box made it back and was sent to the buyer who was happy and surprised I bothered to do this for him.
Was kind of amusing watching it in tracking getting ping-ponged back and forth.

Like many other organizations today, they have some bad employees too.

Only recent inbound issue I have had was a priority package that had been opened, to which my local postal clerk placed a post it note on it stating "package delivered open". All the sheaths were in it but it had been opened.

Only outbound issue is one they messed up for you Les.

I double tape all potential areas of access to the package so they cannot be opened without deliberate cutting. Sometimes the buyer complains about all the taping, but better that then not getting the prize.

I do this also :o:o:o

I know, never had a problem with purchases from you C! You always do the due diligence in your sales shipments!;)

Raden, did they pay you interest for your significant delay? That's rediculous and kdstrick is absolutely right re; "they are very unhelpful and really don't give a damn about your problem."

I always pay my property taxes in person at the county treasurer's office just to see if they smile and have a pleasant attitude when they take my money that pays their paycheck every week.

I'm still fighting my lost package, they keep stone walling me. Its good to see not everyone gets the shaft.

Well, I can't say it is twisting in the wind, but I sent a package that should have been delivered today that apparently has not. It cost more but I sent it registered mail. That's the only option that has an actual chain of custody from the shipper to the shippee. I also got the return receipt that mails a card with the delivery signature from the shippee to the shipper. I figure if the USPS can't provide that, then they can't prove delivery.

my bad, if only I had read this yesterday...
I've never ever had any problems with usps... and ups and fedex is so very far from me...

My best USPS story was when i bought an original ats-34 steel heart and it was a week overdue (sent USPS priority) and they swore it had been delivered. I found it in my patio area burried in the leaves. I lived in an apartment and rather than leaving it on the porch (or mailbox) or leaving a tag for me to pick up at the post office, they threw it over the fence into my patio and it was in a pile of leaves in the rain until i found it. The box was soaked but the knife was inside dry and was a happy end to what could have been a very sad story.

:D

I do not want to say anything (knocking on wood, actually pounding the heck out of it.) But I have had great luck with USPS.

I ship all knives insured, & priority.

In 10 years only a couple hick ups with sheaths, like 3 & I just made replacements ??

Wow, that is a nice Ranger. I would be sick if someone stole something like that from me. Thanks for the heads up, people here will keep an eye out for you if you let them know.

Knock on wood I've never had USPS lose a package I sent or recieved... I think in the past year I've easily had over 100 transactions (selling mostly) on candlepowerforums with no hiccups.

Longest one of my packages ever took was 8 business days - that was from NYC to Utah. But, I've had a first class package make it from NYC to LA in 2 days and a first class international package make it to France in 4 days

Regardless, I always insure my packages - I was an insurance broker for years and understand that it is a necessary evil...

They're still better than the Dutch custom office I guess. They 'confiscated' one my NMSFNOs for over two months without giving me any explanation than it was a 'suspicious' import. Damn, I wonder how much hassle I'll get with the Rodent Waki..
