The USPS is on their game.

Here is one of the packages that I can't for the life of me figure out what they are doing. It left GA., made it to Federal Way WA. which is the main facility for the Seattle area. Instead of then going to Everett, it went to Portland and processed through. But then it went back to Portland and got processed through again. WTF for? They probably have 30 people there sorting all day that walk around and sing "If I Only Had A Brain".

My guess is, it MIGHT get back to Everett by next week some time. When the Waki's get here, that's where I'm going to do my Zombie hunting.

That's nothing. ;)

I can't remember who's knife it was, or which model (CGFBM maybe?), but it was shipped out from Busse, and the package wound up travelling all over the USA via the USPS for something like weeks/months before finally reaching the buyer. No one could explain why, and IIRC, there was no mistake on the shipping label. That poor guy used to post updates here on where it was. THAT was crazy.:D

Yeah, but I currently have three that are doing things like this. Makes me crazy...........

Well, I definitely hear that. I hope they all make it to where they're going with no futher issues!

I'm having a packaged shipped from Tennessee to Ontario Canada. It went from Camden ;) to Miami??

Like many other organizations today, they have some bad employees too.

Only recent inbound issue I have had was a priority package that had been opened, to which my local postal clerk placed a post it note on it stating "package delivered open". All the sheaths were in it but it had been opened.

Only outbound issue is one they messed up for you Les.

I double tape all potential areas of access to the package so they cannot be opened without deliberate cutting. Sometimes the buyer complains about all the taping, but better that then not getting the prize.

Extra tape is a wonderful thing.

I've send out many packages ... only one was lost for about a month, though eventually found. Like others here, I rapidly discovered that USPS couldn't care less about the fate of my package.

A package (with 2 presents) left Wauseon, OH yesterday and I just opened it 10 minutes ago (Michigan).

I've also waited almost a month for something from Cali. that should have been here in 2-3 days.

It's always a hit or miss

I double tape as well. Everything gets double-walled with extra box parts and super glued together. Then I seal the box shut by super gluing the outer flaps.......THEN everything gets taped up!! Better safe than sorry. A heavy duty box usually keeps out ALL but the most determined usps miscreants. I haven't had one broken into yet. Another good thing to do is pack the box so the contents don't move around, and the handlers can't hear anything move around when they shake it.

I can agree!! Recently sent a few knives, birthday card, and various gifts to my Dad in Ohio. I was shocked yesterday when I received the email tracking update. I sent the package this past Saturday at noon, and it was delivered yesterday!!! I'm still in shock!!

Not nearly as bad in terms of value as some of these stories in fact down right laughable in terms of dollar value. But Australia Post ...

I once ordered a magazine back issue from the US, specifically for the CD cover.

The postman apparently could not get it in the letterbox and did not want to get off his bike to walk it up to my door so he folded it in half.

It takes a little effort to fold a CD in half, but luckily he didn't let that little bit of resistance hinder him.

Oh no he persevered and saved him self a 10 meter walk to my door.

It still amazes me to this day.

Anyway I always pay for insured and trackable where available.
A coupla bucks for piece of mind.
I rather suspect that insured and tracked packages get damaged less and "lost" a lot less. Call me a cynic...

had two boxes siting in the back of the post office since july 18th had to ask post master to track it they never put a notice in my box just picked them up to day .Oh yea thats priority mail for ya

Dang I dont like hearing these stories. Ive had nothing but the best service with USPS. They ship the fastest out of all the shipping companies for the best price. I hate shipping UPS...might as well send it old school by horse and it will get there faster.
