The Value of BF

Information and experience are very valuable comodities. You have access to plenty of both in BF. I simply can't put a price tag on what I've learned here.

I know that I've spent more than I would have expected in knives and gear, but I also know that I've gone after better quality, more reliable gear (read as not buying 3 pieces of trash instead of 1 good item) than I would have without what I've learned here. Again, the benefits of information and experience.

Glad this thread came up. It prompted me to upgrade as well; even though this is just about the only board in the forum I visit! Been here the better part of a year and feel it has been well worth it in tips and education; not to mention the great photos! Everyone is just great and I get a good laugh now and then. :D

Unfortunately, there's no way of telling who's recently ponied up, so I can't tell if you did unless, like Ejes, you jump out...

So Ejes, and to all the others so motivated to join up, thanks. It's no secret I love this place, and every little bit you contribute helps keep it running longer and better!

Not making excuses , but :)

I tried to pay , I got $25 to pay with on the credit card , ebayed some blades and figured its worth spending the $$ here instead of back on ebay , figured Id go gold for the hell of it

I click the little link and go to pay , enter all my details the secret code and all , to get an error message , that my address dont match the card address ... I go back and find out that I cant use the automated payment option cos I dont live in the US

fair enough , I click the "furriners click here" link and go off to one stop knife shop , do it all again , noting I got to pay extra now too ... thats cool tho

then after doing all the details again , I see a little fine print notice

"remember we do not take credit cards for international orders"

OK , that makes it bleeding hard now ....

true , I been here a while , and slowly the post number is growing , and yeah , I havent paid for the privilege , despite trying to several times now to find the same thing

Id pay if it was easier to do so , gladly , hell I WANT the search function and am willing to pay for it .... but the way its set up , it dont work for me .

wag fingers at me all ya want , but understand also , all your finger wagging dont make it easier to do what the system wont LET me do

I just upgraded as well...I'm hear everyday I think.... Thanks for all the great advice everyone..

Myal,

You´re perfectly welcome here. You post good information, which is also a way to make BF a better place.

I was fortunate in that I keep a current US address and an American card. Keep posting. The intention of this thread wasn´t to make people feel like second class citizens. Mac

Pict
no worries :)

I get the bug now and then to buy a gold membership tho usually after I forgot that I cant pay by credit card or paypal .. eventually its gunna change , and get easier for outsiders .

I get the bug to buy a nice knife now and then too usually after I forget near on all the forsales are CONUS only .. that only gets me cranky and I go make my own anyway tho :)

This amount of information this forum has given me is astoundingly large. I've led multiple Scout meeting and trips using info gathered from knowledgable folks here. A big thanks to all who who are a part of it!

(you little purple guys need to update your bling to gold! :p :D)

I did it, I upgraded. But since I'm a poor college student I will have to make sacrifices, therefore I will pre-drink before going to the bar tonight.

This is a great thread. I have learned a lot here as well. I lurked and read for years before joining any forum. Used to be I barely felt comfortable using a computer at all and when first signing on the internet I was very wary of the privacy thing and horror stories I had heard. You know the ones of credit card number thefts and stuff like this. So thanks to this, for years I could not bring myself to give my own info and even register. I'm glad I let the wall down now looking back. Still I was late finally joining here. I actually joined other forums first when customers of mine getting older Cold Steel knives rebuilt or Gerbers or any of the ones I repaired would ask me if I belonged to one. At first I didn't even know what they were referring to because the term, 'forum' threw me off and I had not heard it before.

Once I joined knife forums at the invite of a customer I eventually got into the swing more and at some point like all of you I'm sure, I heard reports off and on of "the other forum" and then one day someone posted a link to BF. I spent the majority of my time else where even after this but it didn't take me long to realize BF was the best one for what rang my bell. Perhaps the lure early on was no pop ups, and it loaded so fast compared to others I belonged to!

Anyway, I still like a couple of other forums a lot and moderate on one other although these days I spend all my time here. Its hard not to really. I support blade forums for many reasons but mostly because it returns the favor better than any other forum I belong to. When you turn on your forum does it return the favor? Mine does! :D (ok I admit it> I borrowed that line from a car commercial and modified it a bit.:p )
