Off topic, but man do I love those Bahlsen cookies.

Before you get all Luann on us, here is some class I frequently buy and not just any class, FIRST CLASS!

I'll join you off topic. How about a little poetry . . .

Tiptoe through the window,
By the window, that is where I'll be,
Come tiptoe through the tulips with me. :)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have had nothing but Excellent Service from Hinderer Knives. Rob gets back to you ASAP. Broken screws, stripped screws, technical questions, Rob gets back to you ASAP.

I will admit that another company is my favorite: CRK mainly for their designs and wider assortment of different types of knives and their easier attainability.
( Chris has taken care of me personally on two different occasions )

But you can not go wrong with either Company as Both offer the Best Service in the industry along with some of the highest quality knives you can buy, at any price. That's why I will always be a fan of both.

And just for the record, I have posted on the CRK forum when discussing different knives how great I think Hinderer Knives are...!!!

I agree completely. It is curious that the two most criticized knife-makers on the forum - CRK and Hinderer - offer the very best service and product in my entire experience. Being disabled and having a smaller world than most, I can say that both CRKs and XM-18's (and William Henrys) have given me immeasurable pleasure and enjoyment. They are worth every penny I paid and more.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Really? Hinderer one of the two most criticized? I must need to get out more or apparently I am fairly immune to the criticism. Or, if the criticism is secondary market pricing, I could care less, that is the stupidest criticism ever. In particular if it is implied, expressly or otherwise, that Hinderer Knives is responsible for the secondary market pricing. All it means to me is the poster is an idiot and doesn't understand the free market and the most basic economic concept known as supply and demand.

No reason to get all up in arms. The OP was stating the great service he had. I was stating the same. Both brands mentioned are only criticized because of their success. Nothing more. Lighten up and enjoy them. Both are companies that set the standard in the industry, both in design and service.

Thanks for the advice, but I really don't think you understood my point, it wasn't directed at anyone who has posted in this thread (unless of course there are people who posted in this thread that frequently complain about secondary market pricing and/or blame Hinderer Knives).

I appreciate the op sharing and would like to throw in my .02 - The Hinderer crew has been top notch in every interaction (my expreience) and you get what you pay for, every time.

Sometimes the money you pay for a high-end product includes intangibles. And the true value of a product is often in the service that accompanies it.
........

I agree completely. I've only made a couple requests of Rob, but have always been answered immediately. Great customer service every time.

Thanks for sharing your experience Picard  Good to hear.

The thing is, everyone is right. Rubi and Rob have been kind. Rob could have easily slammed the door in my face. I'm sure he gets emails like mine all the time. It's getting back to the basics. Whether it be a box, screw or chit chat. I totally understand the secondary issue. It inflames me. Yet it exists. As a direct buyer you cannot sell yours for profit. You will then lose the chance to ever purchase direct again. Rubi wishes we me well more and my son than talking shop. No one has to care. Take the money and run. A box isnt a huge deal. But if someone is willing to
Do that. They will most likely offer way more when needed. I work in healthcare. Seeing and treating sick people everyday. Hearing the same BS and excuses desensitizes a person. But I still find my self at the end of the day offering a smile, hello or goodbye. A hug, hand or consoling touch can be just enough as laughter or bringing someone back from the edge. I hate, hate getting a patient a cup of ice. Hate it! For that person though the cup, like that if the box can and usually will make their entire day. Others... They just take. Thankless. So, the OP. glad it meant a lot. You've earned your pennies. Your era taught you to savor the purchase. Walking out the door meant that purchase and service stayed with you till you no longer needed it. My generation is a throw away/upgrade society. We have stopped listening. There are heros and good people among us. Lets save the nasty for those that deserve it.

Now, back to the main point! I want some of those delicious cookies. Send me a box of those! ();

The OP LDB has raised a very important issue with me, and that is the intangibles that accompany your Hinderer purchase. There are few knife makers that make themselves directly available to their customer base. Anyone can attend a knife show and if the Hinderer crew is there they are all approachable, my first direct contact came at Blade last year, I was able to talk directly with Rick and Rob and they made me feel welcomed, although we had never made acquaintance. As a matter of fact Rick pulled out his own XM 18 skinner and said here look at this and left me to talk to someone else. There I was holding his personal knife when Rob came over and said here look at this and handed me his knife to look at. Here I was holding two Hinderers with no one even eagle eying me, talk about trust!

I finally felt ill at ease and hailed Rob and gave him both knives back and thanked him. To me this speaks volumes as to who they are as a company and more importantly who they are as people!

If you ever attend a lottery drawing one of the first things Rick does is say how humbled he is by the turnout and thanks everyone for their support! Never comes off as aloft or pretentious. These are the people who make and stand behind Hinderer Knives.

W0W! FO, I don't know how you do that, but once again I felt like I was at the knife show.... You really should write more!
And as to the topic, detail to client need is an indication to passion for your product, and that's priceless......

I dont think anyone likes the secondary market pricing. If they were readily available at retail prices, I would probably have 30 of them. I have also read on here and on the net elsewhere that Rick Hinderer does it on purpose to make them so much in demand that there is never any sitting on shelves, as they are snatched up right away and that he works it a certain way for the supply and demand to be high. I highly doubt that to be true. Probably something someone said one time and it caught fire. I like their knives and the secondary market pricing is what it is. I realized that long ago. People can complain about it all they want, but if you or I decide not to buy any more because of the high prices, there are two more people out there waiting that will. Any company that has a Long waiting list, someone could say the same thing. I for one love the XM line, but because of the high prices, I will not have as many Hinderer's as I do other companies. I am not one to frequently complain about it, but if brought up, I will say what I think and just leave it at that because again, it is what it is.

The service is very likely great, but let's remember that you'll get grade A top notch lifetime service from Kershaw for your $30 knife too.

This thread has really simply run it's course. Started out with what I thought was a nice recognition of Rob and the level of service and response from RHK and ended up salted and peppered by totally irrelevant remarks (mostly from those who's entire contribution to this forum consisted of that single post) So, No Thanks.
