We've discussed these knives before, but this thread is intended to collect them all before our eyes!! So put 'em up! Lets see the interesting, the boring, the worn, the new, the mint, the bizarre, the ordinary.....you get the picture!
Participating is what makes BF the best on the web! Accessible, user friendly, and infinitely educational, lets keep it interesting! To kick things off, here's a stack of them;

Holding up the pile is a Schrade Walden. Next up is a SAK!
Then two Schrade Cut. Co.s, a peach seed, and a smaller wood handle. Finally a wee Japanese key chain model!
So whatcha got??

That peach seed is pretty classy for a hawkbill. Nice grouping.

I am getting way behind on my scanning, now more so. I guess I better get at it.

It will be nice to see what starts coming out of drawers, boxes, and tool sheds to show up here.

Oh my. I just remembered a situation that involved a domesticated, wild turkey and a dull hawkbill knife, from when I was around 16 or so. Enough hawkbills get shown I may just have to tell on myself.

This one came out of my Father In Laws tool shed. No name on it, but a sturdy old thing with one hell of a spring.

Great looking Hawkbills everyone. I think they are highly underated as a pattern. Here are my old Sheffield HBs all together. I'll try to get some individual shots on later. :D s-k

Landers, Frary and Clark, with one of the strongest backsprings I've ever seen. :D

s~k,

Absolutely the most beautiful vintage Hawk-bill collection thus far!.

Thanks for the kind feedback sunnyd. That's my lot. Hopefully, we'll get to see a lot more great HBs before this thread is through. s-k

Hello fellers,

Here is mine.. My first and only Hawk-bill that I ever purchased. It was in the late 1960's sometime as a young lad while working with my favorite Uncle Lewy on a brick masons constructions site as I often did in those days. I bought this knife for .25 cents and two red jaw-breakers from one of my Uncle Lewy's buddies as I recall. I would most likely wouldn't have remembered what I paid for it except for the fact that my Uncle teased me for paying what he thought was way to much money for it at the time. Fact was he would not let me forget it either.

Although the jigged bone was cracked then and broke off in later years.. It is still one of the finest looking old Green Bone I have ever seen.. It just keeps turning a very rich strawberry reddish color as the years continue to go by!.

Anyway,, thought I would offer it up here for fun and all..

Best,
Anthony

Great Pic's guy's! I have a couple old ones myself. I think Imperial or Shrade ones. I have them in the tool shed I think? I sure hope the wife didn't chuck em!

Ah, good old Sheffield Hawkbills! Arguably they have the most appeal of all of them! Great stag, nicely mellowed, wonderful patina, grooved bolsters; the things that put a pang in my heart, and a tear in my eye. . . . . . . . TASTY!!!
(I've been taking writing lessons from Amos!)

That Opinels could be crooked??
HawkOpinels.jpg

New and useful!!
Or that a Case could be cute???
HawkSmCase.jpg

Old but pocketable, at only 3 1/2"!!

You are probably right, s-k. The old "hawks" in this display are mostly old harvesting knives (there's a new sheffield knife in there too). Some have quite crooked handles, and several came from Italy's wine producing areas. I can see that if you do pull cuts all day, a pronounced curve might be easier to use.

Here are my two. Hopefully not my last.

Top is a JMKlein & Sons. Bottom is a 2005Case 62031LHR SS, electritian's knife. I figured it would make a good addition to my Camillus TL-29 while the Hawkbill blade added a little something different.

The Case surprised me. It wasn't expensive at all, but it is well put together. The blade was sharp, no wiggle anywhere, fit and finish are nice. Looking at the backsprings and liner fit it reminds you of a good Schrade. Brushed finish and nearly seamless fit. Both blades have half-stops and great walk-n-talk. The liner lock snicks into place on the screwdriver blade, holding it neatly, but without any of the sticking or drag when closing. The lock just slips neatly to the side and lets the blade close. Nor forcing and no dragging. I would love to have a straight Case hawkbill with the same characterisitics as this one.

I wonder if that Case was made by Case?? Some of their utility model were made by others; the "scouts" for instance.
Nice pair, AIW!

Really nice knifes that you show here!
My favourite EDC is a similar pattern, just with a Sheepfoot blade - a rigger knife!
B.t.w. do the grooved bolter have any functional idea, or just embelishment?
