I am guessing it is a rubber copy and used to shoot scenes showing the knife stabbed into a walker.

It could also be something the stick in the sheath to make it lighter for shots that don't need the entire knife.

This. It may also be a stunt knife used when the stuntman takes a fall or something to prevent the possibility of breaking bladed rubber knives since I doubt they'd use a real knife in stunts.

It most likely has a retractable blade that may or may not be inserted in that pic. The scene where Daryl stabs the walker in the head obviously isn't a real TG. The blade looks wrong but the handle looks correct. Probably this one. Also for shots like the one in the OP.

I boycott everything Apple with extreme prejudice... Besides, season 2 is not apparently even out on video (DVD, Blu-Ray, whatever) yet.

I bought season 2 (streamed) on Amazon for around $30. They also have it in HD for just a few dollars more.
