well for those of you who remember I had sold steve hess the wasps a while back. after many unreturned emails he has emailed me. he tells me he did send the money, but if I didnt receive it he will send another money order. he said he had been out of town.

Well im not sure whats true (about the money), but if he does send the money and make it right then perhaps I could have been wrong about his intentions ??? taking this long (well over a month Im not sure what to think just yet

we'll see what happens!

Have him send you the original MO number, if it's a postal MO you can see where it was purchased or IF it is a legit number) That should help you clear up if he actually did send it. Good luck....haven't we all heard that line......"the check's in the mail"....what a crock. :barf:

Could you kindly enlighten me to the finer details of this transaction?

Before I start calling this guy nasty names, I would like to know some more. While I have had money orders lost in the mail, I have never taken a month to reissue another and I have always sent the seller a scan or photo of the reciept from the MO itself.

This one does smell like a duck...........

well this is a long story, so first I want to applogize for everyone who allready knows about it.

a few months ago (or a little more) steve hess (from PA) asked me if I would take money in trade for two new large wasps I had posted. I told him yes, even though the amount he offered was much, much lower then they were worth. he told me he wanted one for his dad and himself really bad. I told him that was fine I would send the knives when I received a payment. he asked me if I would trust him for the money. he said he would mail the money order the same time I sent the knives, as he was going on a trip and needed to take them with him. I told him I would, and I bit the bullet and fedexed them over night for almost tweny dollars (bit more into my pocket). well I never received the money order so I emailed him a few times for a month and never heard from him. then a month later I hear from him and he says he cant believe the money order didnt make it here, but he doenst offer any proof that he sent it. well he says he will send another, then three weeks later I dont see anything come of that. well I emailed him again and no response, well that last email was about a month ago, maybe more. And no response still. I have to admit it really disheartens me that he continued to tell me "the check was in the mail" after three months of the ridulousness. Not only did he get the knives for a little more than half of what they were worth, but I spent almost twenty dollars on top of that, and my only day off to run to fedex and get those to him. There are a couple I know I can trust, but I wont do that again!!

I learned my lesson though!!! ouch!!!:(

I'm confused. You say he got the knives for half what they're worth but from the rest of your post it looks like he got them for nothing. Which is it?

I had told him when he first made the offer I would accept it. The price agreed on was a little more then half what they were worth. however he never made good on his agreement to pay for them.

Somewhat off topic,

Hmmm, there is one element of this that sounds familiar, using some emotional ploy and or time deadline "going on a trip" kind of thing.

I'll make a seprate post.

rev_jch,

Do this; Email Steve Hess again, and tell him that you NEED the serial number of the Money Order that he sent to you (along with the date and place of purchase), so that you can have the loss investigated as mail theft...And then follow-through with it.

Dann's right. Tell him you need the information becuse you're going to the postal inspectors about the missing money. This is USPS all the way: the money order, the mails used to ship the knife. Go to the USPS website http://www.usps.com/ and locate the postal inspectors. They have a superlative record of zapping thieves, inside the postal service and out. Let him know he's run out of chances, period. No more promises: If he wants to get out from under, let him Express mail the payment to you this time.

Should have to endure this kind of fraud. Especially,
here on this forum. I imagine you lost two knives worth
abit of $$$$$$$. I will gladly send you $10 to help
recover some of the value and if 50 or so others on the
forum do the same, it might make the loss easier. So, if
this matter does not get solved and you do not recover your
knives or the money order, please let me know. We have to
take care of our fellow forum members.

Good luck...........

Boy, that ploy gets used often!!! That is because for TRUSTED members it works almost all the time. I guess the answer lies in; if you do not know the buyer extremely well, you wait for that money order.

Having said that, it does not appear he has been active here at all since this transaction. furthermore it appears he is employing the standard "scam stall" used by most THIEVES.

One more E-mail is a great idea, immediately followed by an official complaint to the US Postal inspectors. There is simply no legitimate reason for payment to have taken this long. I thing it's a pretty safe bet to presume you have been had!!!!

Why don't you post the complete information to include his address? You might also want to call your local Police agency and the one in this idiot's home Town.

Ya know Rev you should post this guy's info.He has already "dug his hole" And by continueing the time frame ,he could be ripping off another member.
You do yourself a diservice by not revealing his info.IMHO
Randy

well guys his name is, or this is what he told me ( I dont know if this is the truth) steve hess he is from altoona, pa. (or if thats really not his address, thats where he asked the wasps were sent). th email address he gave me is stevehess31@yahoo.com he hasnt responed to in over a month, emails sent to it that is.
I just sent him another email to ask about a money order #.

This is really too bad. Another deal gone bad that will make people think twice about trusting someone else when entering a deal with them.

Rev_jch, did he tell you he was sending a Postal money order. If so, that would also be something that USPS would like to know when you contact them to investigate this matter. If you have an email where he states this, you should hold on to it in case the USPS agent wants to see it. It is time to go aftyer this guy.

After much thought Ive decided to let it go, and forgive steve. Who am I not forgive him when the Lord has done so much for me. The matter is closed now.
