The weekends are way too short...

Well ya wear that one and see if its even a problem if it is ya fix it by making another.

That's what I figure. So far, so good. Next one I will definitely stitch closer to the inlay so there isn't such a lip. I think I just got a little excited on this and didn't think that part out :D

Look of that last one is perfect, if it works then double perfect:)

Thank you! So far so good.

I'd love to see some more pics of this sheath if possible .
Ken

Thank you Ken! I will try and take some more and post them in this thread soon.

You are very talented. Beautiful workmanship. Looking at that alligator inlay belt sheath makes me think you could make some mag carriers that look like that and make some $$$.

Thank you very much for the kind words! I could definitely do some mag carriers like that and probably should. It would go well with this holster I made for a 1911:

Really nice work (good photos too)

Thank you sir!

The only problem that tends to pop up with that style stitch guide is on thin leathers (like stitching linings). Cobra has a newer version available if your machine is fairly recent it will already have holes drilled for it up in the neck. This version you can leave mounted all the time because it has springs to keep it up in the neck when not in use, and will drop all the way to the plate so nothing can get under it when locked in the down position. I've been considering modifying my older Class 4 to work with it because of how much I like that feature.

If I had more than one machine this wouldn't be a gripe :D Great work as always!

Thank you! You can never have too many machines! :D:thumbup: Yeah, bought the machine new in December of 2015 so I'm sure it does (and I think I can visualize which holes you're talking about). Off to look at Cobra's website now, very intriguing!

Wow, I'm ordering one of these today. Fantastic adjustability and heads and shoulders above the basic one that came with my Cobra. Thanks for the info! Al Bane did a nice little review video on YouTube:

I'd seen Al Bane talk about it on some page last year and knew I 'needed' it in my life but I have to drill and tap my machine to install so I've been putting it off. Glad that random thought could be of use - I stitch a lot of thinner leather and the normal style guide is not up to the task well because the thin leather just goes right under it if you don't pay very close attention to it.

Started and finished another belt sheath on Friday night. Started playing with some ideas of using multiple leathers in creative ways. This was the initial result. I'm going to explore doing more of these in the future. Up until now, it has mainly been just one leather or a window inlay. I'd like to start breaking away from that and try some completely different things.

I like that. A lot! very cool. Also machine jealousy on you guys and them Cobra 4s. Thats a cool gizmo. I sew by the ol calibrated eyeball method.

Thanks Dave! I've got an idea in the works for another this week. Going to try a couple different things including some brown gator in the middle and black shark on the outside with dark brown thread all around. Another idea is to do the liner lip on the top edge like Paul does. I think it would be a really nice finishing touch. I have some extremely stretchy, soft, thin dark chocolate Kangaroo that will work really well for that technique.

This is what I'm talking about:

Are you selling holsters on the 1911Forum? If not, you should. Nineteen Eleven enthusiast's love exotic holsters, and often buy separate holsters for each gun. And, they love their knives too. Especially when they're purchased to specifically to compliment the gun. You would have way more sales than time to make. [emoji41] May as well pay for the stitcher.

The thought has definitely crossed my mind. When I first started making 1911 holsters I posted some on there. People went nuts wanting me to make them. A year and a half into leather, I've yet to accept a penny for any leather work I've done. Just don't desire a second job in addition to my full time making a living job. Maybe one of these days.

Very clean work with new but effective ideas. Love your work.Eyesoothing if I got that word right.

Wow !
Nice work !
Nice even stitching. Nah the green is good as it is. Receeds a bit into the background and makes the sunflower pop as they say. If you don't like it take comfort in the fact it will probably fade a bit in time and become . . . PERFECT.

Week ends :
I work Saturdays; that slows the week end down some.
Makes Sunday go three times as fast though.
I've worked Saturdays about all of my life since High School.
SUCKS.

Thanks for showing those !
Keep up the good work.

Whacha doing this weekend?

Busy weekend! Sharpened a couple knives for a friend on my Wicked Edge Sharpener. Helped my Dad make a full shark front pocket wallet. Made a new shark belt for myself (it turned out really nice, sorry for the crappy photo). Refinished the edges on two of my holsters. Both came out very nice, especially the brown nile croc. The other was my brown hippo holster which I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of. All in all a really productive weekend for leather work!

Man and the hits just keep coming! Very nice! I'd like to see some close ups of the belt. I didn't do anything in the shop. Went camping at the beach with the ponies.
