Here is a traditional New Zealand Maori adze axe made with a jade bit. These things were very effective as both a weapon and a tool. When sharpened correctly the jade can become razor sharp.
When I was in college I spent one summer working on an archeological dig in Central Washington. One of the coolest objects we found was a jade adze blade. The site was dated as 1100 years old. We excavated a longhouse that was built with interlocking wood timbers. All carved with stone axes and adzes. Preserved by fire you could still see how the pieces fit together.
