The Yvsa/Powell Naming Conventions

:
Alright!!!
I did good today!!
The copies of the full curveing khuk and a couple of pix of QL's khukuri that I put the handles on are off to Howard.
I had the copies reduced in size to fit a standard sheet of paper to make it easier for Howard to scan them.

The mic's are on their way to
John and Rusty has 2 packages coming his way.

I agree with John and Bill about the top view. I don't know what I was thinin' except for a one shot deal, but the top measurements will help with all the khukuri measuremets.
I put the top view in with the other copies. I had to redraw the point since I made it t fit th curve of the blade it was too long to get it all on the screen.
This ought to get us a bit further down the road to production.
I am pretty excited about this khukuri.

Khukuri FAQ

Precision and accuracy of measurement are not the same thing. Plastic vernier calipers (at least the common cheap ones; if there are any better ones available I haven't seen them) have a precision of .001" but their accuracy is far worse than that. You can read it to .001 but your reading will typically be wrong by maybe .010, .020, even worse than that. In other words, although they give you a precise reading it's actually less accurate than using a ruler graduated in 64ths with a little care.

Steel dial calipers are available for about $20 anywhere reloading supplies are sold -- gun shows, the Midway catalog, etc. That's a much better way to measure the thickness of a knife. They're useful for so many things they're well worth the $20 IMHO; when you have one you'll find you use it often for one thing and another ... it's a useful tool to have around.

Hi Cougar,

There are accurate plastic calipers but they're often more expensive than reasonable ones made of steel (of similar quality). I don't think I'd want to measure blade depth with a good one made of plastic though...
