The 'Zaan is off to Idaho ... and USPS troubles!

Like others have said, I've never had the clerk ask what specifically was in the box. They always ask if there's anything "liquid, fragile, perishable, or hazardous" and I simply tell them no.

The one time they did ask was when my girlfriend shipped out a Sebenza. However, they wanted to know more so because I had told the missus to insure it for five hundred bucks and not because they had any idea what was in the box.

Thankfully I've never had any problem at my post office they just give me the same questions everytime about flammable, perishable.. blah, blah, blah.

However when my P model Sebenza arrived last week and the USPS driver had to have me sign for it he asked what it was. The seller had fully insured it and he said that he couldn't imagine what could be so small and light and cost that much. I gave him a short speech on high end knives.

Big mistake, next thing you know that mailman will be purchasing a Gold Membership on BF ;).
The less my postman knows about my purchases the safer I feel.:D

So, I got the knife back the other day. It looks perfect. Not sure what they did, but whatever they did they did well. Not sure if they replaced the blade or re-ground it, but you can never tell that tiny bit of the tip had busted off.

Glad everything worked out. Wow.. can't believe you had so much trouble shipping a knife through USPS. I had a gun shipped to me via USPS before ... and before you guys start jumping around picking up the phone and calling the feds on me :p..... it was a Long Gun (shot gun) shipped in state from one resident to another and that is legal to do and USPS didn't have anything to say about it...

I have never been asked what is inside my boxes, and when I ship international I always have to fill out the customs form and I only ever put (Camping Tool) it is not lying and they never ask what the camping tool is.

I put "possible murder weapons" on all my custom forms. ;)

Whenever I go into the PO to pick up a package I always get the same question, "Another knife?" LOL! They all know me by name and know my hobby. :D

That's been my experience at both local post offices I use, and I've shiped dozens of knives USPS.
