The ZT0551 Has "Gone Away" but now its back! The Offspring 0551

Very nice - I would hate to find out who can make those becasue I really like my orage scale.

Still can't get over how nice this looks. Looks like it took some serious work but the maker did an awesome job! Perfect gapless marquetry! Did he choose the woods or you? Very nice contrast and I like the more brown toned Cocobolo rather than a very red. Cocobolo has those nice wide dark veins though that the Rosewood I have doesn't have. The Cocobolo I've worked with is super hard (nearly as dense as aluminum) and a pain in the @$$ where the Rosewood shaped a little easier. Cocobolo is just another reason this is so amazing!

It's always neat to learn some interesting personal stuff about fellow knife dorks. With the tattoos if you had a pound of metal hanging from each ear you'd fit in perfectly as a stereotypical Portland chef on this side of the country!

I remember I took a portable CD player and a huge pack of batteries with me the first time I was backpacking in Glacier National Park back in 1994. I think I maybe had 3 CDs but the only one I remember was Smash. I just looped that over and over.. the peace and serenity was nice but there were times on the 12 mile days going up the side of a mountain that The Offspring was all I wanted to hear to keep me going! I remember running in to a group of east coast high school girls and one of them asking lots of questions about the weight of the batteries. I think she was flirting with me.. but I'm as socially clueless now (and in MUCH worse shape - desk jobs suck) as I was then. Ahhh.. memories..

I let the man choose the woods and everything.. I like giving the artist something to start with and then let there minds run wild....
Just like my full sleeve that I got to Remember my Brother..I gave them a Theme and 30+ hrs, and still counting
(once again a bad pic but you get the idea..its a phoenix and a dragon)

That's what I do with my artist. I just give him an idea and then it's in his hands. My next ink is an old Irish saying in script down my right forearm.

May your glass
Be ever full
May the roof
Over your head
Be always strong
And may you
Be in heavin
A full hour
Before the devil
Knows your dead.

I'll be sending you the cleaning bill for my underwear sir. I couldn't contain myself.

So beautiful!

Such a beautiful piece of knife art!!!

I don't think I could carry it, I would just sit it on my desk and stare at it all day long.

I've been carrying it all day so far.. Was told by the artist to use it! Don't be scared.. So I am..

Way fricking cool. Do you know the process the artist used for cutting the wood...laser, CNC or traditional saw? Also, was artist someone local to your area?
Amazing work...enjoy.
