Excuse me guys for my long-timed silence, I have been a bit busy with my home renovating.
For a long time I have been wondering about a very light knife with high cutting ability, stainless of course, with grippy and comfortable handle and very polite for many different laws in various countries such as Russia , Finland etc. But at the first place there was lowest weight possible.
I have got 110 AG version, which was experienced in Finland last year, and it hasn’t been questioned by the customs on the border. It is a well-known, heavyweight champion, but the handle is a bit slippy when work it water or wet conditions.
Finally I turned my eyes on the Ecolite from Buck knives, and decided to add the blade made of CPM S30V steel , because I had had a large experience before with that steel from Buck, and I had been completely satisfied with all the features of it.
So, I have bought Ecolite with green handle on ebay , it was very cheap some $24.50 , the blade made of CPM S30V.
I dismantled from the donor knife, it was an used ,scratched old version of those custom made by Buck, old , with big blade play , and almost not maintainable or repairable knife.
I accurately deleted the old rivet with a high speed engraving machine, then made new one of stainless steel wire of suitable diameter and riveted it again.
Finally it is almost perfect, ( frankly it has a small blade play, because of not exactly conterminous shapes of back lock detent and the notch of the blade), and I am really and very satisfied with this result.;)
I have got what I have been dreaming of, the light weight, the grippy handle ( thanks to those finger grooves) , the law friendly back up knife without clips under my palm, with wooden- like handle for winter temperatures, almost completely stainless steel construction and with long lasting cutting edge made of CPM steel.
This knife was especially wanted without the clip as an EDC version of back up knife in its own pocket putted in my bag out bag. :D
It looks like after I had shifted to learn American version of English , I caught another so called “fever” after reading of too many threads on Bladeforums about so called zombies :foot:, ends of the days , new equipment , zombie hunting etc. :D
Now it looks like each learning has a little evil in it.

Over here are some pictures for your attention:

Thank you Mr. Kcuff

Of course , that new version has been tested on the meat , what could be better than a good piece of lamb meat and kitchen tests, over here are some other photos for your attention:

Some bones and flesh are for soup and broth , the most part of flesh is for the main dish.

And over here is my new 'bug out bag' :D or perhaps "get home bag" , where my new back up knife lives now:

It is an assault pak from new Marines FILBE system, that I bought recently , and I am playing a lot with:thumbup: , and very glad to have it.

Nice job on the ecolite/S30V blade.
I think if you take the flag off and turn it over it will be correct.
Can Victoria sew? :)

Great idea. Hope Chuck Buck takes this one up, either in S30V or CPM 154. I'd buy one in a second.

:thumbup::thumbup:That is the right stuff there good job on the knife .:thumbup::thumbup:

I really like the Ecolite frame for a work knife.

I would love to see more blade options in these frames.

Here's a 112 with a 442 drop point blade. Would love to see a drop point 110.

Thank you Flat.
If I had turned the flag over, it would be with blue square and stars in the left bottom corner , which is not a right position too.
It looks like it is a reversed flag made for the right sleve of military uniform.

But I have received this flag as it is.
Yes, Victoria can sew, but she doesn't like to. That flag has a Velcro patch on the back side and the backpack has the reciprocal velcro tape too, so it is easy to remove or put on again.

Thanks Mr. pinnah.
Yes , 112 is a nice one too, it has all the features earlier mentioned by me .Light weight, stainless steel frame etc.
This is a nice 112 on your photo, drop point blade is interesting and unusual one for EcoLite series of Buck knives.
Drop point 110 Buck is sometimes visible among Custom made knives from Buck. BBCI version , I believe.

Garry, how do you like the width of your Ecolite?

I would prefer it if it my Ecolite 112 were thinner, more like the 500 Duke or Bucklite Max. The Ecolite is so nice and light... light enough to be pocket carried. But, once it goes in the pocket and off the belt, I like something thinner.

Anyway, just wondering how you find the width.

Garryale, glad to see you back on the forum... Nice job on your Buck Ecolite... I hope to see you on the SPS... ITE ...:thumbup::thumbup:

Hi there Mr. pinnah.
Yes , Ecolite is a good option especially for those outdorsmans, ultralight equipment lowers, hikers, backpakers etc.
As for the width of 110 and 112 EcoLite , I am sorta XL man , and my palm is pretty large, so the width is good enough for me, and generally I prefer bigger folding knives, something of 4 inch or even more blade and with larger handles, but that one must be law-friendly and no questions provocative by its size for the people around when it is shown or when in work.
I've got some larger American knives, and with fixed blades too.

Yes , Mr. Alberta Ed , of course, either would I .
154 CM steel or even CPM 154 CM would be a nice model too, and with higher cutting abilities too.

I see that when Russians say "leg of lamb" they really mean it.
I love the fact you have to be a bit of a butcher in your own kitchen.
I should also try to be more this way.

You know Flat , it is a bit not my native language, so I am not such an expert in description of things of different kind.
That word "lamb" is just the first word that came to my mind when I was typing that text.
I understand that the words "gigot" or "leg of mutton" or perhaps "gammon of mutton" are better , but I was a bit lazy to find it out in my Russian-English vocabulary.

A "gammon of mutton"?
I see I need to do a little research on this because I don't know the word.

"Gammon (from the Old French "gambon" - ham) comes from the hind hip joint area, so it's like a cross between bacon and ham."

This is what I found on gammon. Is this correct?
