I just realized that I had the very good fortune to have sheathed two of the the top three knives.

Lin's D guard was just magnificent. The photos are great but the knife in hand was so much more, and one of the most fitting examples of a Bowie I've ever seen. Fit, finish, style, the works….all perfection……and the owner happens to be a friend and someone I admire.

John's Bowie, as you read above from Bob, this knife was special from the very beginning and when it arrived at my shop I could see why John had requested "something very special for this one". I chose and John agreed on the brown/black theme to compliment the handle carried out with the use of Full shark for the sheath along with the stylized mouth.

I am one lucky guy to be able to be seen in the company of such fine makers both here and elsewhere.

Excellent points made on how sheath work and image quality can elevate the entries. Both, obviously, play into the voting especially in this format.

How perfectly fitting that our friend John not only takes the prize for this year's Best Bowie, but to further honor his legacy by dedicating this thread to him in the future is just...BEAUTIFUL. This is my personal favorite of John's knives that I have seen and I absolutely love that even after his passing, he still pulls off another win! I'm on the same page with Lorien here. I choked up for a bit when I read Roger's post and I think the resounding sentiment from the group really says it all. He was truly loved by all who knew him! I honesty can't think of any better way to honor the life and legacy of our dear friend. A magnificent craftsman, a truly "Next-Level Artist" and absolutely one of the finest human beings I've had the great pleasure of calling a friend...John's boundless enthusiasm and generosity will always be sorely missed, but to those who's lives he touched, he will always be a part of us and his name will likely live one forever within this business. He set the bar for quaility really, REALLY high!! Congratulations brother, you deserve this...and just as Joe said in an earlier post...so much more.

Sorry to wax poetic or get all sappy guys, but my eyes are leaking a bit and I'm trying my best to keep it short and to the point. The pure love I see pouring out of this family for one of our fallen comrades reminds me just how wonderful this world and the individuals in it truly can be. It's bitter-sweet in a way, but my heart is bursting with joy right now. Well done Gents:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

^^^ Beautiful post and a beautiful gesture. Roger, thank you for taking David's suggestion. Being remembered and honored in this way would surely have been treasured by John.

I just realized that I had the very good fortune to have sheathed the top three knives including most if not all of the Tsavo project.

The Tsavo project was fun but they were almost all just alike, mostly black with a couple of brown thrown in. They were all sleek and all business just like the knife. The big plus was I got to play with and handle and admire the Tsavo at my leisure.. It was almost like owning one.

I am confused, it was to my knowledge that Jeremy from 8 ball custom leather in France did the sheath work for the tsavo project. My sheath for the tsavo project came from him, jeremy. Kinda curious if something changed. This makes me curious.

Ryan.

Paul your having a senior moment :)

That was the last project :)

Man I love you :)

Jeremy did these :)

Thank you Joey. Just so the rest of you guys know……..getting old is not for sissies.

@pig_sticker NO, you are not confused…I AM! I am also embarrassed.:o The big project I did was the Wheeler/Paranee project and yes I described the sheaths properly, but they were NOT for the Tsavo project. I also did a big run for the Knight/Paranee kuhkri project, but NOT the Tsavo project. If I had done the Tsavo project, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it……Hell I did enjoy it and I didn't even do it:rolleyes:

^^^ Paul has dressed so many world class blades that he can't keep them all straight.

Seriously though, that was pretty funny.

Greg -- that knife in the Avatar is a winner to me and proudly displayed among others that I can view daily my friend.

我为John White's Brown Takedown投一票,这是一件非常漂亮的作品,虽然其他的也很棒,但我更喜欢它!

谢谢!
