Guys:
I've been reading the posts probably like you and I'm disturbed by all the bad business going on. Can somebody list all the poor dealers or traders so that we know who not to deal with!!!!!! Maybe the good dealers like Chief, Mike(s), Patrick, Mark, Tim, Josh etc. can help here!!! This dishonesty is repulsive!!!!!!

I really don`t see it. I don`t think there are an extraordinary amount of "bads" out there. Remember, for every "bad" transaction that gets listed here, there are hundreds of "goods" that don`t get listed.

If you deal long enough on the internet, eventually you`re gonna get bit. That`s just the risk you take. Personally, I`ve found it extremely rewarding dealing and trading on this and other forums. I`ve gotten great deals and met some great people. I really don`t worry that much about "bad" transactions. They`re rarer than it appears here.

I'm glad your experiences are positive and I hope they continue that way, however, I'm not of the group who say that sooner or later you're going to get "bit" if you deal on the internet. I don't like to see innocent people get burned. Like you, I'm fortunate to deal with honest people like Chief, Mike Payne, Josh, Jeff Cheatham, Ray Jay and Copfish. etc. Thank-you for your post; I appreciate your feedback.

PatC,
I have not noticed a lot of posts about people getting ripped but rather deals not going the way a person wanted them to go but that is just my opinion. However, I DID notice a pretty drastic turn in the aggression and negativity of posts here which was interestingly timed with the changes going on in BF.?! I'm not sure what that means overall but it was very interesting to see. Like everyone else I am morbidly attracted to the negative posts though I come here a lot looking for positives and there was a time awhile back when this forum seemed 'boring' for the lack of BADs and then suddenly there was a rush of them which made this forum much more interesting. My luck or whatever dealing with BF members has been extraordinary! I would hate to leave anyone out by attempting a list and my memory for names is not what it should be but I can safely say every deal whether selling or buying has gone great. In fact, in most cases, the knives were in better than described condition. I am cynical enough to agree with Steve B in that I feel if I continue to do deals on the net I will end up getting into some sort of conflict but I am hoping that by diligence I can minimize those negative effects and maybe avoid them all together. Maybe some of the ideas Mike is talking about could help in the future..... Online 'virtual' sales would be quite cool!?

A few months back, or maybe a little more recently than that, I thought I noticed an increase in Bad and Ugly posts, and I started a thread to that effect. Maybe it is a function of size and traffic and maybe it's just coincidence and bad tempers - but real badguys used to be a pretty rare thing; now it isn't. I find that a little sad. Having said that, I think, so far, everyone is doing a pretty good job of exposing and dealing with the Bad and Uglies and the level of civility is still pretty high. But it's a trend that warrants watching, IMHO.

Gentlemen:

I thank-you sincerely for your posts; I hope we don't experience an onslaught of bad deals in the future; or even one bad deal. In my profession negative trends (or the lack of good trends) require a corrective and preventive action, so I sometimes keep an "eagle" eye on "potential" purchasing risks or negative situations. I agree some of the complaints are around customer service expectations, but the ones that really concern me are out and out fraud situations that buyers can't recover from (i.e. promised/paid for product delivery that never takes place). Thanks again!!!!!!!

If anyone happens to run into Rennie Raines, Tim Flanagan is still looking for him. Something about a long overdue bill...
