Here we have a nice trousse dating from the early 17th century. These were most popular during the late 1500s onto the first couple of decades of the 1600s. It was probably once part of larger set of hunting tools. Notice the very sharp top edge near the point, and the excellent stag. Wait didn't Bowie invent those? Not bad for a 400 year old knife.

I am somehow missing awesome threads. N2S... drooling here, awesome knives. Great pics too.

Here are a few more knives from Nepal and the North Western frontier. Notice the odd stag handled examples of the Kora and Khukri, and the very much older Kora fighting sword.

Just a few 19th- very eary 20th century pieces. The first two are wearing ivory handles, then we have an unusual Kothimoda done in brass (including a brass handle), and a nice siver one (horn handle).

Closeup of silverwork on Kothimoda at the end.

Durga, well-armed:D and riding her big cat, is a popular subject for kothis, with lots of room for individual artistic expression:

That # 5 is cool, any maker what to make a modern version, with hamon micarta
I tink it would be cool, I have not skills or tools so i can't do it myself :D

No close up of #1? ;) Thanks for all the pics. Definitely some beauties, and proof that not all "new" ideas are new.

Regarding the Worlds Fair - I'd hate to speculate what the insurance adjustor would say if you proposed something as outlandish as a giant wheel with little carts to ride in. Maybe we'll find out when someone brings a space elevator online - that's the only thing I can think of that would be as fantastic today as a Ferris Wheel was in the late 19th century. But then, if I could think of something equally amazing, I probably would be trying to build it!
