I can't wait to see the new Spydie lock. For my everyday carry, I bought an Axis 710... based on the lock alone. Otherwise, I don't find it a very attractive knife and wouldn't have even considered it. Benchmade makes good knives, but they can't touch Spyderco in terms of ergonomics, looks, etc. All your knives make you stop and take another look... and you've gotta love the hole!

If you pump out a Spydie with a _cool_ lock, then I'm already sold.

Can I have an AMEN to that Brothers and Sisters!!!

Sal,

I appreciate your having been up front with us on this. As to the Rolling Lock itself, I've never handled a production one. I do have a custom Simonich Talonite Carnivore that has a licensed Rolling Lock mechanism. As Rob prepared it, all surfaces were hand polished and fit so I've not had any negative (e.g. gritty, etc.) experiences. It is as you described it to me during my visit some months back. Very very strong and pretty slick. I find nothing to disfavor it at all.

But I'm also confident in your in-house R&D capabilities. Undoubtedly you'll provide a new state of the art lock in the future which will eclipse the liner lock in your models. For those who mentioned the Sawby lock, all I can do is refer to Buck's experience in trying to mass produce it the original 532 model... it collapsed and was pulled from production with only a handful of samples surviving.

Thanx for the support. We will extend our best effort to come up with locks that please.

We have a patent on a lock designed by Leon Pittman. We think we have figured out a way to make it in production, Good for us and Leon. Plus there are others in the works. Locks are fun and The R & D "Think Tank Team" has been working.
