I just got my new issue of Tac Knives and found that they've done yet another article on a knock-off company. Linton knives has been discussed in the past but now that they are going to start appearing here I thought I'd bring it back to everyones attention. They've taken about every Strider fixed blade and a half dozen Steve Ryan folders and even one of the old Ontario Black Wind swords and made expensive knock-offs. Check out this link www.swords.ca , I suppose that what bothers me most is that Tac Knives would give these people ink. Theres got to be a way to stop this kinda crap.

Man, that sucks. For the prices on those knockoffs, ya might as well save another $100-$200 and get the real thing!

Linton is well known among us for their knock-offs. The www.swords.ca company is a large knife store chain in Canada (large stores, nto a lot of them across Canada). I won't shop there because of the Linton knives they carry.

If anyone is in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is lookign for a great knife store, go to www.targetknives.com (located on macleod trail!). They have a GREAT sellection, and the owner is a knife nut.

I ("guess") that they buy the knives from Linton at such a low price that they can´t say no to selling them. This is an example that shows that when the profit is high enough business ethics/morals truly are relative.

Here is the company web site: www.linton.com.tw . Their tantos look like a cross between something from Strider and TOPS. The knives are 420J2 and are probably overpriced junk. Is 420J2 a good steel for a "Seal Tactital Knife" or "Servival Knife?"

What is even worse is the fact that this company has tried to come to knife shows with this junk.

And they are popping up everywhere, even saw some at my local brick and mortar, though it unfortunatley carries a number of cheap junk knock offs.

Yup...they were at the NY Custom Knife Show in Nov 2002...they didn't have any direct Strider clones at the show (good thing as they were right down the aisle from Strider) but they did have some that were awefully close to Steve Ryan and Knight's Armament

Here's a pic of their table at the show.

Can brother Cyblade get an Amen from the congregation?

Y'all are preachin' to the choir, my friend.

You need to take this message to the evil sinners themselves: write to Tac Knives and let 'em know that the Tac in Tac Knifes is for Tactical... not Tacky.

Let 'em know that what Linton does is illegal and unethical and that it is unethical for Tac Knives to support them by publishing articles about their products or by accepting advertsing from Linton.

Unfortunately, Cutting Edge carries a LOT of low end and knock off knives. Sales on mid to high end aren't large enough to keep em running alone.

I've spent a fair share of time in the saskatoon location(only about 7-8km from here:D), and I'm in well enough with the ppl there(first name basis for a while). The owner(darren) is another spyderco nut.

I've seen the linton crap, never did like it, regardless of steel type.

Brother Gollnick shall we pass the plate and take a collection so that we can send brother Mick and brother Duane to talk to these unrepentant sinners :D I'm dropping my Tac Knives subscription they've already jacked the price up and now they've done articles on Hayes's knockoff tomahawk's and now thier giving free press to the people that are ripping off Strider which is an advertiser, doesnt seem to be good buisness to slit the throat of someone that spends money buying ad space in your magazine. I wonder if the Strider guys are gonna pull thier ad's from Tac Knives.

Hey Guys..

A direct Rip off of Spydies Chin Lum...

Just like Gollnick said..

There is a way to stop them...

Email a link of this thread to the SOB's.
Then we all email them and tell them how much they suck for selling designs that belong to our brother Mick!

Spread the word that no one will buy from them unless they get rid of the garbage...

We as a whole have more power than we think we do..

Look at the facts..

When we talk,, the knife company listens..
Just like Busse, Spyderco,Camillus, and a butt load of other manufacturers...

We make up a large chunk of their customer base,, and our voice ,I believe has some pull..

Just think if you got 17,000 emails.. you'd at least pay attention...

Put the swords away, draw your virtual pens and get to it..

Maybe we should start a consumers union!!! :)

That's real low. I think the fact that they are being represented at shows and such seems to make them worse. I sent them an email but they will most likley ignore it. Everyone should pitch in write them, like said earlier, it would be hard to ignore 17,000 of them.

that swords.ca site also has some of the most SKANK prices i've ever seen!!! a Rollock for $59.99 CAN?????? that's higher than MSRP. ...makes me sick, and not even in a good way!

abe m.

Don't you love it when companies put the rretail price up and then put the knife on sale for close to what the actual retail should be?

I HATE knock-off manufacturers and Linton are just another in a long line of POS companies that piss me off to no end. Low life, morally bankrupt, ethically challenged piles of manure are the nicest things I can think of calling these companies. I think just as little of the retailers that support them.

abe: I buy spydies... at least the prices are reasonable for them. Not much choice for me. No CC, so I'm stuck with using MOs and buying online(and waiting a month to get the knife)... or paying REALLY close to MSRP and getting it now.

I agree with everything you said except this:

Spyderco is not being ripped off, custom maker Bob Lum is being ripped off. They did not include the trademark hole.

Who writes the little descriptions (or is that lies)? I wouldn't mind b****-slapping them a few times.
